i think this is going to REALLY REALLY change a lot of games, and i dont see it talked about much on here.

Seriously. I totally forgot that even happened, I'm really surprised we don't see more chatter about it.

Let the season start and see how it affects things then I would imagine it'll be a topic of discussion.

He found someone willing to give him a pay raise and 2 years after how last year finished. I would have taken that deal too.

Wait so mlb passed a rule that benefits teams who've stacked up on good relievers past couple years....seems on the up and up

I think it's a three batter minimum or the the end of the inning. I could be wrong...

Edit: nope I'm right

In an effort to reduce the number of pitching changes and, in turn, cut down the average time per game, MLB will institute a rule change beginning in 2020 that requires pitchers to either face a minimum of three batters in an appearance or pitch to the end of a half-inning, with exceptions for injuries and illnesses.

Tony LaRussa, Dave Duncan, and Rick Honeycutt are somewhere...and not happy.

they started the lefty specialist stuff back in the late 80's. Created a generation-plus of left-handed pitchers that have (or had) no idea how to get out a right-handed hitter

wonder if the screwball will make a comeback.

that's a good pitch for a lefty to throw to a right-handed batter

Too hard to throw, just throw a hard breaking change up.

This will probably help all the managers who tend to over-manage at the end of games

Now they'll just overmanage the lineup and PHs.

As is the case with baseball, you don't often get to control where your life will take you. In our case, baseball brought us to Houston and the Astros two years ago and we will forever be grateful for our time there. We were welcomed from day one and made to feel a part of the community - like it was where we were meant to live and grow. And, man, did we grow. To be a part of an incredible team, those record-breaking moments, and two inspiring playoff runs with some of the most supportive fans in baseball all of these moments have left a mark that will forever remain in our hearts. Our time in Houston was chock-full of wins both on and off the field. We made friends that now feel like family. We experienced the support of unwavering fans that always held hope until the bottom of the 9th (or, in some cases, extra innings). We discovered the wonder of Tex-Mex and fell in love with the city's summer storms. Remembering what it was like to watch G flourish there, with so much encouragement from those around him (both from inside the organization and surrounding it) will always make my heart swell.

We will always remember Houston as a happy home, and we're so grateful to the city, it's team, and it's people for making us one of their own. I know that every time I step foot back in H-Town, it'll bring a big smile to my face, remembering two of the best years of our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything.

Greinke too. I'm kinda pumped to see what Greinke does next year after a spring of synergizing with our pitching brain trust.

Translation: We loved Houston so much that we left to go to their biggest rival because they offered the most money. No hard feelings though!

I hate New York, but if they game me 1% of Cole's contract, I would move tomorrow.

Who wouldn't? If LAA offered me 1% of 8/$288, I'd move tomorrow. If LAD offered me 1% of 8/$300, I'd move tomorrow. If any city offered me ~$3 million over 8-9 years, I'd move tomorrow.

Congrats to him for fulfilling his childhood dream. All of us would have done the exact same thing. Just wish he would have been a little more upfront about it.

These guys and their agents are negotiating the best deals possible. They aren't going to be upfront about much. I do think his preferences were the Yankees or SoCal and they used that to get the teams to present their best offers. It worked, because he got paid.

If anything, he just didn't need to be a ****** on his way out of town.

This is the bottom line. Everyone knew he was leaving and any hope that he was staying in Houston was just the fan we all have inside overshadowing reality. It was the way he left that was disappointing. Go get paid, but don't be a dick mere minutes after the season ends in heartbreaking fashion.

Look, I don't fault Cole for wanting to play for his favorite childhood team. I don't fault him for what happened after Game 7. He was obviously pissed and emotional. He admittedly didn't handle it properly.

So, I have no ill will. I thank him for his efforts as an Astro and wish him luck with his new team. Congrats on living his dream.

I just hope the Astros light him up when they face him.

This kinda shlt makes me sick to my stomach.

If LAA or HOU or SD would've made a bigger offer he'd have chosen them.

It had nothing to do with some stupid sign he made as a kid. It's nothing but pandering to the masses and media.
