It feels like the Angels are pressured to make spectacular moves to sign players without seeing the big picture. Sometimes you can't just throw money at a problem and expect it to work.
There's no sense of strategy to their decisions. Yankees got Cole? Oh, well, we need to go get a big signing ourselves...
The Astros never do that. Their big offseason acquisitions are always going after high value targets. It's why we're able to succeed with a significantly smaller budget than the coastal teams.
