Here is my outside the box lineup. (failed at splitting up the lefties how I would want)

1. Brantley
2. Altuve
3. Bregman
4. Springer
5. Correa
6. Tucker
7. Gurriel
8. Reddick
9. Maldonado

With Yordan back

1. Brantley
2. Altuve
3. Bregman
4. Springer
5. Alvarez
6. Correa
7. Tucker
8. Gurriel
9. Maldonado

Respectfully....what on Gods green Earth would make you think Springer won't be leading off...?

I do think Springer will lead off. That's why I said it's my out of the box line up. I think Springer is much more suited for the 3-5 area. Someone like Brantley gets on base and hits for enough power to set the table without wasting HRs with no one on.

My ideal lead off gets on base a **** ton without being your best power guy. (OSP-ISO)

Springer has always produced better in the lead off position. And Baker has said he liked him there.

If I was going to make my own lineup (the other one I proposed is what I think it will actually be) but if I was making it:

Springer
Brantley
Altuve
Bregman
Yordan
Correa
Yuli
Reddick
Maldonado

The understood value of splitting up the righties is strong in this one

This team doesn't have a natural lead off. It has like 5 guys who are 3-5 hitters.

Given that put them where they are comfortable.

Springer
Altuve
Bregman
Brantley
Correa
Yuli
Tucker
Maldonado
Reddick

If/when Yordan plays he slots in at 5 and Brantley, Correa and Yuli move down 1. Yuli as a 7 hitter is basically illegal.

The understood value of TED is weak in this one.

With the three batter minimum rule, Brantley and Yordan won't be batting consecutively in the order. They arguably shouldn't even be one hitter apart. Ideally we'll have two hitters between them like we did in the playoffs last year.

If an opposing manager wants a lefty specialist to face either of those guys, fine. He'll have to face two of our elite righties too.

MLB should be airing every single game without blackouts online. Of course they are idiots and won't.

One of the conditions for the EPL to come back was that every game was televised.

Who do you feel he should be in place of? He will rotate with Brantley in the OF and DH, after Yordan comes back he will take over DH, if Tucker has been doing really well I would assume he then rotates with Reddick and Brantley per pitcher and to allow games off, add in that he can play first he can also rotate in with Yuli.

I assume Straw will be Springers relief and late inning pinch runner/defensive substitution as Jake did

Question if anyone knows. I've assumed I missed it.

Saw. On the ESPN baseball broadcast from Sunday they announcers were at their homes? Is that how it will be for the season for all teams commentators, or is it just ESPN?

Brantley is a All Star or borderline level player. Reddick is average to below average. If Ted is performing then he should play 99% of the time ahead Reddick. Reddick can come in and play D in the 9th. Even if they're equal, we need to develop Tucker and get him experience because he's the future and Reddick is gone after this year.

At this point I think he's the emergency back up 1st baseman.

So the trade deadline is in 1 month.

If Tucker comes out and performs at a high level is one month enough to prove he deserves 100% of the reps in RF? Enough to try and move Reddick at the deadline?

That's one really interesting dynamic in this condensed schedule. Teams are only going to have 1 month to decide on where they need to improve and who they want to move.

if the Astros are having major bullpen woes...Reddick will be available.

he will need to get off to a good start though for teams to want him.

he would cost his new team about $2.4 MM for one month of service --- in the old days that would be pocket change. Not so much post-COVID

Maybe a surprise team who didn't have playoff aspirations but jumps out to a hot start and finds themselves in the WC hunt and just wants a veteran rental OFer on the cheap.

Hell trade him at the deadline for a lotto ticket then resign to a cheap deal as the 4th OFer in the offseason.

No one is going to want an overpriced back up OF.

Between the shortened season (more teams in the hunt), deadline only 1 month in, and not full access to the minors/prospects the trade deadline this year should be extremely quiet.

We don't have any outfield depth to spare. We need his defense. Besides, no way anyone would take on that kind of salary in a short year with the revenue stream problems that week come with no fans.

You are correct. He was especially hot last year, but was also good in 18.
