It's a good thing seasons aren't determined by a week of baseball!

I'd say right now ... as of May 3rd... we are the 3rd best team in the AL behind Boston and New York

I would hire him tonight as a bench coach

Disagree. There's a logjam at the top, and our bats are in a funk. They earned the series win, but it's four games in April/May. Nothing was established either way. Same could be said if the Astros won. The Red Sox are still out there.
The earned a series split. We handed the series win to them today.

well considering that a playoff series takes place over a week... I'd say that is not accurate.

If I were at that game I would boo every player off the field. Pitiful homestand and they don't deserve to walk off the field without hearing it.

Seriously? Go put your Rangers hat back on that you put away after 2012.

Smart and effective managing is part of the game. We lost on that front big time today.

I guess I should have added "in April/May" to my statement.

Good lord, when we're losing you guys will pick apart every post. The point of my post doesn't change with that one little detail. The Yankees didn't establish anything this week other than the fact that they're ready to play.

Everyone needs to relax. We all want the same thing here.

If that's a playoff series, there would have been an extra day off and JV comes in to close it at 5-3.

The Yankees, Redsocks and Angles are all better this year. We are not as good as last year.

I mean that is true... but even as recent as 2016, we missed the playoffs because we had an AWFUL month of April, and really it was a span of two weeks that killed us.

I circle from when we were 5-8, then lost 8 of our next 10 to go to 7-17. Missed the wild card by 5 games.

Very true... Like I said before I have zero fears of us not winning the division. It's just a different feel than last year when it was clear a few weeks into the season that we were the best team in the AL. Of course that changed when the Indians won 25 straight or whatever over the summer.

Need to find a closer 5 blown saves. The hitting will come, devo is the only guy in the pen with a pulse. Need to trade Giles for a bucket of baseballs and an Andujar Cedano bobbleheady

Agreed

Still, we can have an entertaining season.....but no, this isn't anywhere near the same team as last year. Starting pitching is better. Gotta give them that..... but the hitting is not even in the same universe and zero power. I don't know what happened to them in that department. Expected some of the guys in the bottom of the order to fall off, but who expected Altuve to become strictly a singles hitter. At least they got him out of that three hole in the order....and of course the bullpen is mediocre as we saw again today.

Overall good team but a repeat? Hardly. They'll still win 90 games but that's their ceiling.

Did anyone question Hinch in the post-game presser? I think my question would have been, "Was Devo hurt? Why was he removed from the game"

when the Red Sox come to Minute Maid and win 3 of 4...they can stake their claim.

----

but this week was just like last year...when the Astros rolled into the Bronx and whipped the Yankees and established themselves (Houston) as the best in the league

Garbage post. We just won the first World Series in franchise history. They've earned themselves at least two years of underperforming.

Except Giles. Boo the **** out of him.

I'd rather be a fan base that shows some passion, versus what we are currently. Been to a game this year or last when we are good? It takes bottom 9 before fans get on their feet. I want our fans to show some passion, good or bad. You've never heard players hate the fan bases in NY or Philly (even tho I hate them). Players want a fan base that demands something from them.

Look, did any of us expect the Yankees to be a cake walk? No.

The Astros gifted them the win today. These two teams seem to play each other very even. It sucks to lose games like that on your home turf.

But, Good Lord gents, the sky is not falling!

Am I pissed about the performance today? Yes. Do I think this team has issues? Yes. But, do I think they suck and are not a playoff team? Absolutely not.

The Red Sox, Yankees and Angels all got better. But, so did the Astros. They have better starting pitching than last year, and the relievers are just going through a rough stretch.

With the losses of Beltran and Cora, the clubhouse chemistry has changed. I think the guys are trying to figure it out. The pitchers have a mentor in Verlander, but the batters are still young guys with just BMac as extreme veteran leadership.

This is still a good team in a rough patch. I believe they will get it all together.

Speaking to your point -- It really irritated me that with a World Series Championship, so many Yankees fans were at the games. You could actually hear them cheering when something went right for the Yanks. To me, that's embarrassing.

This is inevitable and unavoidable. I'm sure that there were a ton of season ticket holders more than happy to take Yankee fans money to help pay for their season tickets. It will be the same when the Red Sox come to town.

Just playing Devils Advocate what did our fans really have to cheer for? Yankees, Dodgers, Ref Sox are gonna have their fans both legitimate and bandwagon all over the place due to their pretty historic teams. Now I'd wager that half of those cheering for the Yankees would have trouble naming half their starting lineup last year but that's the way things are and have always been.

Aren't you the guy that is constantly telling people it's may..clap clap clap and to relax?

It's not me you were referring to with those words but I do find that ironic as wanting to boo our team off the field

At the end of the day it's a bad homestand. They happen. We had em last year.

Time to get up and dust yourself off and get a W tomorrow and aim to take the series in AZ.

BTW I heard AZ is starting a 30 year old AAA call up tomorrow.
