Good Lord....he did something IN THE DUGOUT that the camera happened to catch and HE APOLOGIZED to Darvish. That should be the end of it, but not in this snowflake society....
Not to rehash the Yuli stuff, but MLB is a multi-cultural sport with players from around the world. You cannot expect guys from other cultures to immediately assimilate into the overly PC culture of the US unless there are league mandated training courses to help them do so.
I think this would have been a perfect opportunity for the league to stand up and say, "We have failed our international players by not making it known what is expected of them as members of our league. We realize that there are cultural differences around the world and we need to educate our players on what is acceptable behavior and how to best serve as role models for the millions of American youths that look up to them." Or something along those lines.
You cannot just expect a player to figure out on his own that we live in an ultra-sensitive society here in the US and that people will get butthurt over the most innocent of actions that take place in the dugout, are directly only towards teammates, and just happen to get caught on camera.
As part of this training, it should be noted that shouting profanities and showing visible signs of frustration (e.g. throwing equipment or attacking water dispensing devices) is acceptable behavior, so long as such profanities or actions are not deemed racist or offensive by any subset of American culture.
Sorry for that. Rant over. Beat LA!
