I do think he had some sort of abdominal strain in ST, which delayed the start of his season. But obviously, he's been back for a while and has done nothing to earn his way back.

They also removed him from the 40 man a few months ago. That is the most telling judgment.

Looking back, him being the opening day starter for the 2014 season was pretty fitting.

Jeez. He was supposed to be the closer of the future when he first came up. Gotta think trying to make him a starter killed his development.

Didn't that kinda ruin Felix also?

EDIT: Meant Feliz.....not Felix

The 2011 WS may have ruined Feliz first, but we'll never know. The efforts to convert both were complete disasters.

Only opening day game I've gone to and it was to watch him. He was almost hitting the backstop with his warmup throws.

Didnt we turn CJ Wilson into a SP after he was in the bullpen? That seems like it's the only successful transformation. Everyone else flamed out for sure. Don't know where we got that idea. If a guy is good at one thing, keep him doing that thing

Wilson was a starter through most of his minor league career. He did spend a few years as a reliever when he first came up to the majors (made a handful of starts in MLB his first year up, then was a reliever for 3-4 years), but he at least had the background as a starter.

I thought that was the case with Feliz as well. Still don't understand though why you would take an elite level closer, turn him into a average starter, and in the process get him injured and more or less blow up his career. I'm sure Feliz wanted to do it but that was dumb.

Same for me. It turned out to be a pretty meh experience, thanks in large part to him being the starter.

That's true about Feliz, although his time in the minors was fairly brief since he was so young when he was brought up. But he was primarily a starter. Out of those 3, Scheppers was the only one that was a reliever throughout the minors.

I seem to remember Feliz being considered the next Pedro when he was in the minors. When they brought him up he was so dominant and worked his way into the closer. Effing Nellie Cruz and Freeze...

One factor to consider is that the speed at which he was brought to the majors pretty much left him a 2 pitch pitcher - fastball and slider. He had/has a change up, but has historically only thrown it about 5% of the time. So I'm really not sure what they were thinking they'd accomplish with him as a starter and being an 80% fastball guy with one true offspeed pitch.

I was at that one also. The rangers actually tied it up but the bullpen completely blew it. Definitely a sign of things to come for the old school brothers final season

He still could have been the hero in the 10th but he was too much of a head case so we had to bring in Darren ****ing Oliver

Side note question... King Felix?! He appears to be coming back from Bursitis and target for next start is Rangers, IIRC.

Thoughts on where he is this season and long-term?! At 31, has his mileage caught up to him? Owed $26.8M in 2018, $27.8 in 2019 and what appears to be a 1yr Option for 2020 for $1M, which Seattle can exercise if certain medical conditions are met.

Personally, being offered him in a FBB league and not sure what to think.

Rangers related because he will face us in his return and he is often desired in trade for the Rangers.

Feliz bounced between starting and relieving in the minors. When he was traded from the Braves, he was starting games for their rookie team; and then the Rangers sent him to A-ball where he was a reliever.

The Rangers then made him a starter he next year in A and AA (2008). Then in 2009 he goes to AAA and starts but is sent to the bullpen in anticipation of him relieving for the Rangers, which he did to finish the year.

Lacking access to their conference room for meetings, it seems on the outside as if they couldn't make their mind up and with the franchise on the up and up by 2009, they went into win-now mode.

Well, you don't have to pay his salary in fantasy baseball so it's really about who you'd have to give up.

His recent trajectory isn't good news for Seattl whp aren't going to be able to dump all of his salary if he doesn't perform better.

Sure, but I thought the Salary point was interesting and worth having a conversation, in general.

I was hoping someone had more insight and have followed Felix, this year, regarding the injury.

I have plenty of depth at hitting. I need\want a SP who can be sub 3.50 ERA and around a 1:1 K:IP. My team ERA is 3.11. The bulk of my pitching is RPs, so I need some Ws. I have some SP, but need a TOTR guy to balance their IP with a higher ERA\WHIP. Can Felix get that for me? I dunno.

I really wish this guy could become the prospect he was projected to be a few years ago...

Performed really well while he was down. I'd like to see him come in and push Odor to get his **** together.

Bursitis isn't a big deal. I wouldn't factor that in really. He's in a multi-year downward trend. Notably, strikeouts have been going lower. He probably won't always be as bad as he was to start the year but some of the numbers fit the trends.

Yeah I mean to think that at one point Profar was rated higher than Mike Trout is pretty unbelievable. And then didn't he hit close to .500 in the freaking WBC? Just came here and played very poorly.

Was Profar really rated higher than Trout? I remember he was the no. 1 prospect in baseball, which was held by Trout the year before and Harper before that.

Likely means the surgeon was able to reverse the colostomy. Which means he can poop with the normal arrangement instead of having to use a pouch hanging off his abdomen.

Ok... I just had a visual of "a" pitcher with a ball hit right back up the middle... hitting a colostomy bag and it exploding everywhere.

New meaning to crap hitting the fan.

We need to figure out some way to actually get through to Odor at the plate. Drive that pitch center field or opposite field, dont have to pull everything

7 hits and one run. Also it took Odor hardly any time to be right back in the 5 hole.

DeShields hitting 8th when you've got the pitcher behind him just doesn't seem right to me.

.295 guy with little power followed by Andrew Cashner? I'll eat my words for now because Cash got a hit but I want someone better behind one of my best averages.
