I might be the only hard core Cubbie fan that thinks the Bartlett crucifixion was way too over the top. The guy F'ed up but to make him go into hiding is/was ridiculous.

The ****? I think it's the overwhelming sentiment among Cubs fans that he didn't deserve the backlash he got. And it's been his decision to remain in hiding all these years. Honestly it's only made it worse IMO. If he'd had come out shortly thereafter and done at least one interview it wouldn't have been such a big deal to the general public all these years.

I'm not so sure any of us would have reacted any different if we knew all of what happened to him.

That said, I don't buy that an interview would do anything. Chicago media plays up the meatball sports fan. I won't go so far as to say that the average sports fan in Chicago is dumb...but it really feels like it sometimes.
