Why Maddon didn't PH for Lackey in bottom of 5th is beyond me, especially knowing his control was shot. Now, he walks and gives up a double and is pulled. Awesome.

Again, it just a poor external message I think. He hit the cover off the ball last week, so I wouldn't say hes slumping (1 for his last 11 is hardly good, though).
it just sounded like "that's just javy being javy", and it would have been a bigger issue if CEJ doesn't shut down the Sox there.
Maybe he just needs that from his manager - talk about his bad day like it's no biggie and even make some jokes.
When you press in baseball bad things usually happen. Remaining relaxed is the best way to success. It's why I think Maddon is the best manager in the game. The players thrive off his attitude. It's not like the players are running wild either.
