Kawhi adds his name to the long list of guys to make Reddick look stupid on defense.

Saw a blurb say Tony Parker expects that he will play in game 3.

Which means the Spurs are pulling a fast one and resting him to save him for a vintage game 5 performance to break a 2-2- tie in the Spurs favor.

Just now rewatching the game. That Kawhi play on Reddick was filthy.

How. How did we win this game? We choked it away in the last 3 mins.

Depth.

And it's a good thing they came away with it. It gives the team a mulligan game in San Antonio (perhaps a game off for Tony to heal up). If they'd lost, losing game 3 or 4 would have been a death sentence of sorts. As long as the Spurs go back to LA no worse than 2-2, I still like their chances.

Couple things I would like to see differently going into Game 3:

1. More minutes for Danny. Have already stated multiple times how good a job he's done on CP3 who has absolutely killed us so far this series when Danny isn't in the game. Belinelli is clearly giving it his all but Green is simply the better player. Green also shot 3/4 from three last night and it could have been even better if he saw the extra time on the court.

2. Stop Intentionally fouling Jordan when having the lead. I feel Pop has done this multiple times this year when the Spurs build a lead up to 8-10 points and it hasn't returned favorable results. It really threw the Spurs offense out of whack and brought the Clippers all the way back. It was miracle we had a chance to send it to OT. I don't mind the strategy in a tight game or when behind but I'm just not a fan of using the strategy when ahead in the game.

I think the Spurs will be in a good spot as long as Tony and manu are able to go and create. Parker was horrendous yesterday shooting the ball but he still did a nice job moving the ball around and getting the team into their sets. Going to need that from him even if his jumper is not falling. Spurs should start shooting the ball better at home (I hope). They really need to start hitting their open threes and layups around the rim. I think we saw how DeAndre can be a little bit exposed down low. Throw a body into him and you can negate his shot blocking ability. I also think the Spurs and particularly Boris will continue to get more and more comfortable playing around DJ.

I'd keep him out tonight. He needs recovery time and Patty has been pretty damn good in the clutch lately. CoJo has been pretty productive at times as well.

He needs to have his minutes reduced even if he does go, assuming he will still be significantly limited. Patty needs to play a lot. And Joseph's offense should be better at home, so we can afford to play him some to match up w CP3 on D and make the rest of the match ups better defensively.

Be surprised if Parker didn't play. Highly doubt his injury is any worse then it has been all season. He's been a below average player all season long with an occasional good game. He had a decent stretch there in March against lesser competition but he still didn't look like the old Tony by any stretch. Spurs will have to win with him playing this way. He's not all of a sudden going to be great again overnight. He can still be effective though. He has to hit that jumper and continue to pass the ball well. It's up to Pop not to overplay him and to split the minutes between him and Mills.

Wouldn't mind seeing Manu run the "point" for short stretches either. Especially with him and Boris both on the court. Two guys who can really initiate the offense without a "true pg" in the game.

We don't need Tony Parker.

If Parker plays going forward, he needs to play similarly to Game 2 (hopefully slightly better shooting-wise though) rather than some of the bad Parker play we've seen. He did a good job running the offense and didn't play horrible defense. If he is just a very good to great floor general for us for the playoffs, we have some decent scoring threats to make up for his lack of scoring. He needs to contribute more than 1 or 2 points per game though. If on a given night, his slashing is working, play through him. If not, play through Kawhi+Duncan+Diaw/Patty+Green/Beli/Manu.

Duncan will have to continue to be a cyborg and Kawhi will need to start taking over, but we can win it all without the dominant TP we've grown accustomed to. He will just need to adjust his game and others will need to step up a smidge more. Won't be easy, but it won't be impossible.

PtR had a good write-up on this. Basically, LAC is playing us similarly to Miami has and really closing in on the ball-handler after the screen, especially when Manu is running the point. Hence the constant "jump and throw back across the top of the key" pass.

His only option to pass is to the 4, usually Diaw, at the 3 point line or just inside. Diaw is basically deciding what shot we get into after that. We'll see if LAC starts jumping on that pass tonight I'm sure.

*I could have explained this terribly. My technical basketball speak sucks.

Im thinking if they do jump on it once or twice, which I expect, that Ginobli will have the whereabouts to pass it down to the guy whose man is releasing for the steal.

They are definitely blitzing Manu on the p&r but that is nothing new to the Spurs. Another reason why Tiago is so important. Manu and Tiago have such a good chemistry on that pick and roll that if Manu is able to cleanly get it to him on the roll it almost always ends up in an open shot somewhere. Tiago is by far our best roll man and one of the best in the league.

I think the Spurs will be fine in the half court but I would like to see them get out in transition a little more this game. They should be able to push the ball a little better at home and find some open shots on the break. LA has played well defensively so far this series but they are still a very average defensive team and the Spurs need to get out on the break more often because it will result in open threes and layups.

I think Boris will have a nice game tonight. He's had a rough time time adjusting to the size of DJ inside but his shots are awfully close to falling. I think he finally gets there tonight and has a big game around the rim. Hopefully he can knock down a couple threes as well because we know he'll be open.

I think Manu will split the double on the pick a couple times tonight and force the Clippers to stay back a little. Predicting a good game for him tonight and a huge one for Danny Green.

Boris has played fine inside given his size disadvantages, but his inability to hit the three is causing problems. His defender is sagging way off on him and messing up the spacing.

He will be the first to tell you that he's missed about 10 layups he usually makes. He's getting more and more comfortable playing around DJ thought. I expect those layups to start falling for him.

As far as the three goes, nothing new here. Teams have been giving him that shot his whole career and it wont change even if he knocks down a few in a row. It sure does help when he can hit a few although he doesn't pull the trigger on it every time he's open. If he did he would have over 10+ attempts every game lol.

He's been off all season. Only hit .320 in the reg season. If he hits 40% like last year, he is really hard to defend. At 32%, let him bomb away.
Sher Thing
How long do you want to ignore this user?

They let him bomb away regardless. Last year is just wasn't needed. It helps if he can hit open shots obviously but if he hits 2/4 every game from here on out it's not like they are going to start changing up their defense on how they play it is my point. Yes, he needs to hit that shot this year because we need it this year. Last year he could pass on those shots all game because eventually it would lead to an even better look somewhere. Not the case this season.

If Diaw can just knock in a couple 3's it will open things up so much
Green usually shoots much better at home as well, so if he can hit some 3's early the AT&T Center as well as my living room will be going crazy
