I'd start Kai or Trossard over Eddie at this point

Trossard has to play more, we just are better with him in

If only we had a promising young Striker on the bench…. What a perfect opportunity for Balogun but it appears a deal may be close.

I would start Trossard at the 9 over Nketiah. He's just too good.

None of us really know what's going on, but it is clear Arteta doesn't fool around with players who don't want to put in the work or aren't prepared to sit on the bench. Or, in other words, Arteta clearly highly values commitment to the club.

Or 40 million to put toward a new striker…

We may not know what is going on but it is clear Arteta is very uncompromising which can also be a problem.

Trusty move official

French media claiming that Nantes have inquired about a loan for Marquinhos. That makes 3 teams linked in the last week.

Very good article by Ramsdale in the Player's Tribune. Interesting timing given the Raya speculation, but it touches on a number of his experiences both as a player and in his personal life.

I honestly don't think we are looking at Raya to specifically replace Rams, especially considering that we just extended him. I think Raya is an opportunity to strengthen our backup spot and provide Rams with greater competition. If he responds poorly, then Raya wins the job. If he responds well, we end up with a world class GK and Raya is likely sold for a profit next summer.

Could explain the dip in form at the end of the season...

If we pay anywhere near the 40 million asking price for Raya and he loses out to Ramsdale becoming our domestic cup keeper, it will be very difficult to sell him for a profit next summer.

Agree with you if he loses out because he doesn't perform well. If he plays well but Rams plays better, making a profit is still doable. That and I highly doubt we pay close to their asking. No one is gonna give them that much, they have already replaced him and he has already agreed to join us.

I feel like if he's going for 40 million (or whatever the market price turns out to be) after helping lead Brentford to its best season in literally forever, I feel like it will be tough to beat that price if he starts playing sporadically.

Let the fun begin...

Helps our case that Chelsea just paid 25m for Sanchez

I'm guessing it gets done for 25+5

There is a full thread on our new deal with the Emirates. Looks to be around 70m/yr. Same as Real Madrid's deal with them

Better be profitable buyback or sell on clauses if its only 35m

100%

There are some conflicting comps with Leipzig paying 45ish for Openda (from same league w/similar results) and ManU playing 70-80 for Hojlund (different style, different league, lessor stats). Can't see us selling less than 50 unless there is a low buyback or high sell-on.

The real sheet part of this deal... if this was Arsenal offering to buy Balogun from Inter, Inter would insist on 70m+

From Di Marzio

Quote:

Inter would like to offer the same 25 million euros plus 5 in bonuses, leaving a high resale percentage to the Gunners: it remains to be seen whether the London club will accept the offer.
Price going down and those ****ers would probably let him leave on a free

I would do 25+5 if they include a 40m buyback good for atleast 2 yrs, right of 1st refusal & minimum 25% sell-on. Willing to have limitations on availability of buyback but sell-on & RoFR are good for length of contract.

I'd cut them a discount for a buyback clause. We don't even know that Jesus is our answer at striker, yet alone anyone else. And we won't find a known answer on the market for anything less than 70, 80 million, or who knows how much with where things are headed

I like Jesus but I don't see him as our long term solution for ST. Need someone with better finishing. Would like to retain a reasonable buyback on Flo incase he proves to be really good. Otherwise I think ST should be #1 on our priority list next summer.

Jesus is really interesting. He's never going to score 20 goals, but he's such a threat to penetrate that he opens things up for Saka, Marti, and Trossard. I'm not sure we need an out and out ST if we can score by committee. (Except against the complete bus parkers)

I don't think we can win prem or CL without more up front. I think we are a very solid team that will draw and lose a few too many matches because Eddie is all we cam rely on at times.

Guardian says that the refs are clamping down on kicking the ball away, guess we will see when the season starts if they really do it or not
