I thought Ramsdale played well yesterday...still not sure on getting Raya in but I guess if we have the cash, spend it?

I'm iffy about spending too big on backups but I like the idea of having competition so players don't get too comfortable. Nothing from the more credible sources but I am seeing claims that we have finalized Raya for 25-30m. That's not a terrible deal and in all likelihood this pushes us to get better overall play from the back next season whether that is Rams elevating his game or Cana getting the most from Raya. Either way I would bet we make a profit on one of them next summer.

Got to watch the match, finally.

The 4-4-2 press and defensive set-up we frequently ended up with, I thought it worked pretty well. I know Haaland seemed entirely disinterested in the match, but it felt like we had a pretty stable hold on their midfield efforts.


I think its interesting to see how the left back position will be handled, at least in matches where Rice and Partey are both out there. I just don't see the need as much to have the left back invert to help out the midfield.

I guess with Tierney still around and Zinchenko continuing to show he's good at accumulating injuries, I'm just left wondering if Arteta will be shifting his philosophy a bit this season.

Seeing claims that the Monaco offer was for 40m euro all in. Italian media are claiming that Inter have offered 30+5 plus "large %" sell-on.

French media claiming that Marquinhos is joining Nantes on a season long loan.

Side note... Find it interesting that we seem to like to loan players to France but are very seldom linked to players from the French league.

He's one of the obvious transfers we should make if possible. Good player, has value, but just doesn't fit our system. Hopefully we can convince someone to take him permanently.

I like Marquinhos and think he could develop into something but 12M is not a bad fee. Didn't we pick him up for almost nothing?

The move for Raya I think is brilliant. I think he will be worth well more than 30M after Arteta is done with him. Ramsdale already worth around 40-45M. Let them compete and sell whoever loses the competition next summer. Great piece of business.

I've always liked Ramsdale but I think Raya is a bit better for how Arteta wants to play.

They completed the loan move with no option. I'm ok with that. If he flops they aren't gonna pick up the option anyway. If he does well we can get more than that next summer or simply keep him.

I guess Jesus/Nelson/Vieira will be backups to Saka but two of those are frequently hurt and I like Vieira much better at the Odegaard position. And I think Nelson is a lot better on the left. Seems like we could've used Marquinhos.

But I'm glad he should be getting good playing time.

Think we need someone better than him this season in order to truly push for a title. Think after we unload a few guys we will make a push for a RW/ST or a legit #9 and use Jesus as a ST/W.

Yes I think you're right. And I agree Marquinhos isn't really at the level we need. It'll probably be a late window deal for someone we haven't heard of. Kudus was on the radar but I believe he was just sold.

Sad day. Hope he does well at Forest after this weekend
