Official stop for your Champions League Quarterfinals talk.

We have the 1st legs of two matches today.
Real Madrid vs Liverpool at 2pm CT.
Borussia Dortmund vs Manchester City at the same time.

Tomorrow is:
Defending Champions Bayern Munich vs Paris Saint-Germain at 2pm CT. (2020 Final rematch)
Chelsea vs Porto at the same time.

The second legs are next week.

My prediction:
Real Madrid
Manchester City
Bayern Munich
Chelsea

I would love to see Dortmund get through, but they are in terrible form and they're up against the hottest team in the world right now.

VAR checking to see if the penalty called is legit in the City/Dortmund match.

EDIT: VAR OVERTURNED PENALTY CALL. I'm not able to watch, anyone see it. Pretty obvious?

Absolute correct call, don't think there was even any contact and the City player made a meal of it.

Ref then proceeded to whistle the City keeper's misplay of the ball dead after he kicked the Dortmund attacker who was free on goal. Not a good day for him.

RM are so much more enjoyable to watch when Ramos isn't playing.

Reminds me of how my attitude to watching Bayern changed after Ribery left.

Some players are such jackholes they bring down the image of the whole team.

Twitter is blowing up about the call. If the final ends up being 1-0 then that'll be a huge talking point

Lazy defending from Dortmund lets City pull one back in the 90th. Booo.

2-1 City into stoppage time.

I don't understand why they continue playing both daily matches at exactly the same time. I want to watch both live.

Yeah, unless it's a group situation where you don't want one match affecting the other there's no reason to play them simultaneously.

Imagine because it's on prime time in Europe and the time zones already stretch out. Still seems like it would make more $$$ for them to show both games back to back though.

Europe TV viewing ideas are different than the US. They don't give a AF.

Today's two matches begin in less than 4 hours.

Bayern Munich vs PSG
Chelsea vs Porto

Everyone is expecting Chelsea to pull through, meaning most eyeballs will be on the Bayern/PSG match. MIA SAN MIA!!

Still in disbelief on that foul called on Bellingham... would have changed the game. I know its been said a lot but VAR needs a complete overhaul

The problem on that one is that it got blown dead before he scored.

I believe, and anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, that if the play had been allowed to continue then VAR would have reviewed the goal scored.

From my undestanding, yes. When he blows the whistle, there is no goal.

They should've given a free kick and DOGSO red there.

That's right. There's not really much VAR can do about a quick whistle... once the play is blown dead on the field, all the hypothetical results are out the window. That's why refs and ARs are so slow with a lot of calls... if they get a no-call wrong, VAR will step in and "save" them.
jeffk
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Except that, had he played advantage, it would have resulted in goal, so no DOGSO.

After the whistle was blown, VAR should've been used to issue a foul on the keeper and DOGSO.

VAR isn't used to review fouls that occur outside the box, iirc.

Unless you're saying what VAR *should* hypothetically be used for?

Yeah...VAR should've been used.

If you're going to have VAR, have VAR. I've seen in the past, fouls at midfield called back. Is that only on a goal?

I think they use VAR to determine VC anywhere on the pitch.

I need to review the VAR protocols in the LoTG.
