Before Vandy's second goal the ball was passed to Olivieri but she got pushed in the back and Vandy stole it. Before the third goal our players were shocked Vandy got a corner kick.
But Vandy was faster than us, especially their back line.

The first goal was on Sample- She got beat badly and quit chasing leaving the goalie in no man's land- Sure she could have played it better with angle and charging, but that was a 1v1 and that is a goal 99% of the time

The second goal Lopez left her man unmarked by 30 yards, gave up the end line and the easy cross- Kolb was marking her man she just got beat - her head was in on the play the Vandy player just beat her

This is a special group that can put it together in the Spring and moving forward- There is a team chemistry that we haven't seen in a couple of years. Hopefully McCain goes to grad school and comes back next year

I think the net net was a good year and with young players you could say it borders on amazing in spite of the two losses. I recommend caution on expectations in the spring unless we can get several friendlies in.

How does being a college graduate provide a player a fifth year of eligibility?

The NCAA ruled that this COVID year won't count against a player's eligibility regardless of whether or not they play. So seniors have the opportunity to come back if they want to.

But the way I understand it is that they do not have to graduate to receive their fifth year. Correct?

Being a college graduate has nothing to do with their eligibility. Right?
No matter their status, it would be great if all three seniors (Lopez, McCain, and Ziemer) returned.

They don't have to graduate to remain eligible. The idea is that if they do graduate, they will have to choose to continue playing (and enroll in grad school) or decide take their degree and start their life (or pursue professional soccer)

Kinda of a perfect storm

This academic year is going to be very costly for a lot of the athletic programs around the country.

With football being very limited in games and in attendance at the games being held, there will be a significant decrease in revenues to every athletic department.

In addition, recruiting may change drastically because theoretically every student athlete enrolled this year can attend college an extra year.
For example, in football there might be room for around only 10 new recruits for 2021 -- to stay at or below the 85 scholarship limit.

Why wouldn't every student on a full scholarship take advantage of this extra year?

When the SEC teams play in the Spring, how many games will they play? Those will all be non-conference games right?
