You don't have to be completely out of control, or vicious. Red cards are there to discourage plays like that, where you could potentially end someones career, if not their day.

We look really good when we can actually the ball to our skill players in midfield/forward, they look very strong linking together with quick passing and movement. We're struggling to convert possession in the backline to the midfield, Senegal just bunkering deep and not being drawn out of their shell.

actually playing defense seems like somewhat of a weak point on this team. The goalkeeper tried that a couple times in the first half to similar results, almost scored. Hard to believe you could get caught out like that

Well, at least the U17s play a style that is consistent with the USMNT - we'll slowly build from the back come hell or high water and if it doesn't work we'll keep trying no matter what. Plans B and C are for losers!

It's weird because they didn't play like that in the WC qualifying. I dont follow enough to know if its just player availability, or if he chose a different lineup. I read that we had players playing centrally on defensive that normally play other positions. We looked really sharp when we were able to link and combine going forward, but you have to be able to win the midfield consistently to rely on that. Senegal would run us over the majority of the time we tried to build it up that way, and then would just play direct over the midfield when on offense
