Can't really tell much from Mexico vs Cuba, but Raul Jiminez will give our backline fits.
Haiti v Bermuda is actually an entertaining game. Haiti is clearly the better team and has had a ton more chances. Bermuda scored at the end of the 1st half but Haiti has scored twice to make it 2-1. They aren't world beaters but Haiti really doesn't look like a terrible side.

so, what exactly do we expect from the US in their first competitive match in almost 2 years? unfortunately, they are playing a nobody. so probably won't tell us anything.
Well since it is Guyana, I expect them to actually score for once. That would be nice. Granted last Gold Cup we struggled with Martinique in the group stage so who knows.

Jamaica looked pretty good. They were very aggressive, which is the opposite of our team lately.
I thought Jamaica looked really good. Played a physical style which seemed to bother Honduras (maybe learned something from the US match). That pitch, though. Looked terrible when they showed field-level shots.
T&T just got away with a penalty, mainly because the guy overly exaggerated the contact so it looked like he was diving.

The T&T right winger is pretty good. Not sure who he is but he's fast and has good foot skills.

They're a rival, of course you hate them.
They're easy to hate because they have great skill, but it seems they'd rather flop around and play stupid tiny 'games' with opponents and refs. It's like when you see a nice pick-up, but the owner dropped it, added a bunch of decorations on the windows and hood, and made it look cheap. A nice pic-up turned into a cheap clown car (that's mexican soccer)...

After watching a lot of the first round, I've come to the conclusion that Haiti and Bermuda really aren't bad sides. I know CONCACAF isn't the strongest region for soccer but I've been entertained watching them play. Guyana played well against the US till late in the game yesterday too.
I'm hoping that an expanded Gold Cup and also the CONCACAF Nations League help some of the smaller countries to develop more so our federation can raise the bar a bit.
