In addition to just getting a US League Soccer team which will play at COTA, Austin is getting the Columbus Crew. The City Council just approved building a stadium on City Land near the Domain.
Two Million people in the metro area and growing fast. Also ticket prices will probably be different and COTA will have better parking. But you are right, the Austin Bold has said its possible if MLS came that they could have to move the franchise if the area can't support both. The thing about USL its more set up for local rivalries. Teams already in OKC, Tulsa, San Antonio and Rio Grande Valley, and starting next year Austin, Albuquerque and El Paso.who?mikejones said:

Austin Italic FC?
I see one little problem with that. The "owners" in MLS don't really own the team, the league does.ChipFTAC01 said:
Due to Ohio's Modell rule, they have to make one more attempt to sell to a local owner before they can pull up stakes.

Anyone against Austin Crew? I dont think I'd mind that. I fear it will be something really dumb though.
I'm curious how much they change (name, uni color, logo, etc) what they keep the same.
They might pacify the city by letting them keep the team name and record, but I don't think they get bumped to the front of the line for expansion.Ferg said:
My guess is that Columbus keeps the team name and records and gets bumped to the front of the line for expansion.

"As a Dynamo fan now in Austin I'm a bit torn, but the way Dynamo ownership seems a rather disinterested in the team is more than a bit frustrating as a fan. Here's hoping Precourt is willing to make an investment in the Austin club that will make them competitive."
This. I'm in the exact same boat.
with the Dynamo down the road, and already orange, I'm thinking they'll go a different direction.Quote:
I'll definitely root for this team...as long as nasty orange isn't the jersey color!
