But the real story so far is how terrible the ref is in the LA-Portland game. At least 2 missed pk calls. Yellow card missed, etc.

Fantastic 2-0 away win for NYRB last night in CONCACAF Champions League vs Tijuana. I want to see an MLS team finally win this thing, so I'll cheer for almost any team from our league. Bradley Wright-Phillips scored both goals, the second one while surrounded by three defenders at the top of the box. Check out the highlight, I have no idea how he managed to even swing his leg for a kick with all those guys surrounding him. Luis Robles made a ton of saves to keep the clean sheet.

With the return leg at home, you have to feel good about NYRB advancing.

The other two MLS teams are playing tonight, btw.

That was one sick goal by Osorio! And now 2/3rds of the MLS teams have taken the lead after the first leg!

Although their 2nd goal was egregiously offside. I don't know why they introduced VAR if they won't use it.

LOL!

In the Minnie/Orlando they use VAR on a foul that was borderline on the penalty box line. Hard to tell if it was inside or out, but the ball was out and the attacker was moving away from goal. Great use of it.

It's like the refs are conspiring against themselves.

There was an offsides goal and an obvious uncalled penalty that screwed the Dynamo tonight. MLS's implementation of VAR is ****e and was last year as well.

What a game! It looked like Toronto had buried Tigres, but the yellow side mounted a furious comeback and managed to win the game, but Toronto took the match by virtue of the Away Goals Rule!

So I don't really follow the MLS other than generally paying attention to the standings. But I got alert on my phone the other day about Atlanta having 71k for their game against DC. It looks like they are regularly packing them into the Georgia dome. What gives? Is it a regular attendance thing or is Atlanta that soccer crazy?

Atlanta came out of the gate hot last year and they're still that way. They emerged into the world with a huge, passionate fanbase. I've heard their attendance is better than the Falcons. They traveled in strength to Houston for opening weekend.

I'm sure it helps that their owners spend big on talented players to execute their very attractive, attacking style.

This week in MLS Referee LOL...

Perfect opportunity to use VAR to call a penalty after the fact in the Toronto vs Montreal game. A pretty clear tackle from behind where the defender is nowhere close to the ball. But alas, again they don't use it for its intended purpose.
