It has been a wild FA Cup so far this season, with 2 non-league squads making it to the 5th round for the first time in the cup's history.

5th round (round of 16) draw will be held later today, here are the 16 (actually 17--1 replay to be held) clubs still in the competition:

[ol]
  • Tottenham Hotspur---EPL
  • Derby County (Championship) or Leicester City (EPL)
  • Oxford United--League One (3rd Division)
  • Sutton United--National (5th division)
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers--Championship (2nd Division)
  • Arsenal---EPL
  • Lincoln City---National (5th Division)
  • Chelsea---EPL
  • Manchester United---EPL
  • Millwall---League One (3rd Division)
  • Huddersfield Town---Championship (2nd division)
  • Burnley---EPL
  • Blackburn Rovers---Championship (2nd division)
  • Fulham---Championship (2nd division)
  • Middlesbrough---EPL
  • Manchester City---EPL
  • [/ol]
    Clubs by League:
    EPL---7 (with potential for 8)
    Championship---4 (potential for 5)
    League One---2
    League 2---0
    National---2

I love watching the big clubs travel to the smaller stadiums, but I know the smaller clubs all want the opportunity to play (and the payday that comes with playing) in one of the big venues like Old Trafford or the Emirates.

First time a non-league side has made the quarterfinals of the FA cup since 1914.

Huddersfield had played fairly forward. They certainly aren't just parking the bus.

Leicester is a hot mess. I wonder if Ranieri survives this.

With CL and trying to avoid relegation the last thing Leicester needed was more games in the FA Cup. I doubt they will make a move before their CL game this week, but the noose has to be tightening.

Honestly the magic last season should help him out.

Vardy and Mahrez stock has dropped a lot so they may regret not cashing in

Sunday's games went more as expected.

Tottenham showed their class in a dismantling of Fulham at Craven Cottage, 3-0

Manchester United survived a wet, foul night at Blackburn, winning 2-1

Today we have Arsenal traveling to South London to face Sutton United at the 5,000 seat Gander Green Lane. Game is on FS1 at 2:00pm

Sutton will try to be the second non-league team in the quarterfinals, and would assure a non-league team would make the semifinals as the two were drawn against each other in the next round:

    Quarterfinal Draw:

    Chelsea v. Manchester United
    Tottenham v. Millwall
    Arsenal/Sutton v. Lincoln City
    Middlesbrough v. Huddersfield/Manchester City

I agree. I didn't see any of the game against Millwall but did watch them get basically blown out last weekend by Swansea. They have not scored a goal in league play THIS YEAR!!!

For the record I absolutely love the FA Cup. It is probably my favorite competition of the year. I have watched as much of it as I can. The Chelsea-ManU game in the QF is going to be awesome. And Spurs drew freaking Millwall. Also awesome.

The big GK for Sutton got fired/resigned this morning. There was a bookie offering 8-1 on whether or not he would be seen eating a pie during the match. And he in fact ate a pie during the 2nd half. And to make matters worse a rather substantial 5 figure sum was paid out on the bet. That's both sad and hilarious at the same time. And bookies that offer bets on individual social events are idiots because the individual can manipulate the event.

There have not been many good matchups so far but there have been some good games to watch. That being said the today's match and the semis and final are going to be huge.

I guess we'll get to see if Arsenal can beat somebody other than non-league opponents.
