I'm an admitted soccer novice, but I had been following Chelsea casually for the last couple years but started watching closer this time around. Really been loving this run in CL, and now I get to go back and read the whole thread for details I've missed.

Well 43' into this game and I've gotta think that we just jog this out and play for the rest of the PL season. We've got the rest of the season:

QPR
Newcastle
Liverpool
Blackburn


and before I'm even done typing this, Ramires gets one. Damn you Terry, you dip****!

I see that my reverse psychology worked... most excellent! Now who exactly the heck is going to play in the final?

If Chelsea manages to win the CL and the FA Cup (or even if they win one of them), will Di Matteo be back as manager next year, or will the billionaire continue to look for a big name again? Di Matteo just beat his top target.

Cole, David, Gary & _________ in the back...

Don't know how you can't keep Di Matteo after what he's done. This team was dead to rites in almost every respect when he took over.

Ok, so here's who is out for the CL final:

Terry
Ramirez
Meireles
Ivanovic

Hope to have back:
Cahill
Luiz (don't care to see him in EPL the rest of the season, and he's one of my favorites. He should play well against Bayern or Real)

So - Luiz for Terry, Cahill for Ivanovic
leaves:
Essien (ACL health still a concern), Malouda, Romeu, and perhaps moving a few other guys around. I'm not really sure as I haven't had enough time to look into a few other ideas. Just spitballing some things to get some conversation going.

I would imagine who else plays depends on the opponent in the final, but I could see a few guys playing up that weren't even on the reserve list today!

Romeu for Meireles...possibly Sturridge for Ramires (only if RDM wants that position to play high. Else you've got, well, Malouda, but other than that nobody).

Incredible!!! Just got done watching it. It's unfortunate we will be down some men in the finals, but unbelievable! That goal by Ramires was beautiful. I question that Cech card, but he played phenomenally this stage. It was sweeeeet to see the tears of the Barca players. I'm so proud of this team.

Chelsea can really gain some ground in the race for third, especially with the New Castle fixture coming up. Further, they won't have to worry about resting Ramires, Ivanovic, Meireles and Terry for the CL final.

Its absolutely amazing how this club has turned around since AVB took his leave.

Newcastle losing is huge espe ially wiyh playing them on Wedensday, but we still need help from Tottenham. And it looks like they'll be favored in all their remaining games. Hopefully they'll get a draw or two. Today's bludgeoning of QPR gives nice cushion on goal differential. Gonna be a wild finish.
