An individual on a trade site on FaceBook is offering an Aggie ring for sale, Class of '88. I asked her about it and she said she bought if in an estate sale and it has the intials LGB inscribed inside. She is asking $1500 for it and says the stone is a one carat diamond. If anyone is interested, it is on the Sheppard AFB Buy, Sale or Trade page and her name is Sylvia Maldonado. It sounds like it is in a Pawn Shop. That's all I know, just thought someone might be interested.

Tell her she's a liar because the biggest diamond (which appears to be the size that's in it) is .3 carat.

She is a lying POS, and knows it was stolen. Tell her you are interested in buying but you want to see records from the estate sale.

If it's a women's ring it's 10, if men's 30.

Any chance you can get a pic of the inside and read the name?

You know it is possible that the rightful owner pawned the thing. I know plenty of fellow Ags that can't manage money worth s snot.

I asked her what was on the inside of the ring and she said just initials. I'm old, but my entire name is inside mine and still legible. Are the initials something the jeweler imprints on the ring? I know this could be legit, but it's hard to believe it would go to an estate sale. Either gift it to a family member or sell it themselves. What do rings sell for now?

Unless you want to pretend you've a former student, why would you pay anything more for an Aggie ring other than what the gold/stone is worth?

Also seems odd that just the initials would be in it. How big was the class of '88? Wouldn't be too hard to find someone with those initials, assuming she wasn't lying.

Nevermind, harder than I though. The '88 Aggieland only has first and last names in the index.

If she still has it when I get home next week, I may mosey up to Wichita Falls and ask to look at it. I wondered the same thing about the initials since mine has my legal name at the time, First initial, middle name and last name. Can't remember if we had the option of just initials.

Except the pawn shop owner already stated that she bought it at an estate sale, so no.

I've never seen an aggie ring without a complete and full name inscribed inside. It doesn't wear out.

Mine was made in 1967 and I can still easily read the name. I never take it off.

I went through the entire class of '88 and there are only 3 people with the initials "LGB". I'm reaching out to all of them now to see if any of them are the rightful owner.

I intended to be home early this week and was going to ask her if I could see it. However, an unexpected death in the family has me stuck in DFW until tomorrow night and now the post has been removed. I messaged her and haven't received a response. If I hear from her, I will post it here.

Still working on contacting them. Only one got back to me, and I have ruled them out. I will reach out again.

With what information? At this point in the story, there isn't any name to search for.

I reached out to her to inquire about the status of the ring and heard crickets. I asked what was inscribed and the initials was all she said was there. Did she remove the name? Did the family remove the name before placing it in an estate sale? I guess we will never know if I don't hear anything from her.

This might be a dead horse, but keep in mind that the class year is not set in stone. The person could easily be a later class year. It all depends on what source you are looking into - they could all have different class years for the same person. I know that somehow I didn't leave that place until a year or two after my ring said I was supposed to be gone.

No, your class year is the same regardless of when you graduate. Unless you're a frog, and then pick whatever class you feel so inclined, because well, you're a frog.

Not exactly sure what you mean here. I was originally class of 78. Attended a couple of years, took some time off, and came back and graduated in 83. I had the choice of having 78 or 83 on my ring. The school considers me class of 83.

So I'm a frog?

Class of 88 here. Mine has first name, middle initial and last name engraved on top of inside. On bottom it has LGB 10K.
Should have name on top. Find out more about the estate sale.
