Yes.

The newer iphones are not carrier specific.

not 100% true. Depending on your carrier you need the GSM chip or the CDMA chip. If you buy an AT&T phone (GSM) and put your Verizon sim card in = **** outta luck. But the other way works fine. CDMA phones can access GSM networks.

If you are unsure, just check the model number on your phone to tell which chip you have.
