If I was a senior I'd hate to know my last game is already behind me
Bowl games don't matter anymore, only the Playoff games. There will be many more "opt outs" on down the line. 
Still glad we don't play them again

They were going to the poptart bowl right? Shame because that's a really fun bowl.
They already accepted the Citrus against Michigan.
We didn't play well enough and feel angered by being left out. Therefore, we will put our foot down and say NO MORE GAMES FOR US. We are showing the world we are a CFP level team by refusing to beat up on another good team in a bowl!

Part of me doesn't blame them. I hope this breaks the current model. The #20 and #24 teams made the playoff and they didn't.

There are far too many bowls anyway. 5-7 Mississippi State will represent the SEC in the Duke's Mayo Bowl. The Liberty Bowl position was given to the American Conference.

BYU won't move the needle.
But Notre Dame and Texas will Force changes if they both opt out.
All this pouting and whining is just being done to hasten the move to a 16 and what will eventually be 24-team playoff.
The more teams allowed in will help tamp down scrutiny on a flawed human committee with a flawed criteria.
It will never be perfect nor free from criticism...whether it's a human committee or computers doing the selecting.
But the more teams you let in then less biotching about it.

I feel no sympathy for them after they got put in the playoffs in 2020 over a much more deserving Aggie team
No love for ND, but I would like to see more of the fringe teams do the same. JMU & Tulane don't belong The committee bullshat needs to change. Ags should be ranked above Oregon at the least. I have no problem with Miami in over ND, but Miami should have been ranked higher the past few weeks. Anything that throws shade at the selection criteria is a good thing IMO.

I say it's schadenfreude all around for the media darlings, i.e. the sips and domers. Tessus couldn't buy their way into the playoff, and Notre Dame wasn't able to weasel in over a better team. Cry me a river, especially after the absolute horse **** decision to leave us out for ND in 2020.

I don't think that's a relevant talking point. Their schedule was much harder than Techs who is in a conference.

Probably although Texas doing it would be epic entitlement since they wouldn't have made playoff even if it was really the top 12 teams.
I do find this funny that ND didn't make it, FTR. I mostly despise them so this brings me joy but they are getting hosed all the same.
