I believe this game is a turning point. Here's why.

Every season even the best teams have a couple games where the coaches and or players drop the ball and play a bit below their capacity.

But good coaches and good players reflect and respond and grow for the better.

Unfortunately we haven't had coaches or a program that did this very well. For whatever reason we got very little growth out of losses.

So if we win this game, I think it marks a huge turning point. Not in the players but in the coaches and the program itself.

We shall see. I just don't want to see the same mistakes and want to see us grow and become better in areas where we clearly need improvement.

If that means a win. So be it. I hope it does.

i mean if we win this game it will be the most Un-aggie thing we will have done all season. if history tells us anything we find a way to lose this game and then win next week when it doesn't matter. so i woud agree if we can win this game it is a turning point to a degree because we haven't been this deep in a season with a chance to play for a conference championship in a long time. hopefully this time it will be different and we can finally take that next step. i think we do

Like many of us said pre South Carolina, this is Elko's chance to prove he's different. That things are really different.

Typical Aggie outcome this weekend is a loss as we prep for Texas.

The new Aggie (we hope) is getting a convincing win and setting up the big show down next week to get into the SECCG

A well played game with an adjusted game plan to account for the loss of Moss and stingier defense would be good to see for sure. I dunno if this team is ready to totally come together under this new staff or not. It generally takes more than a year but they are ahead of schedule imo.

Yeah, I remember back in like 05 or maybe 06, gameday said they'd come to college station for A&M ou if we jus beat a bad Baylor team on the road

Then we proceed to go out and lose on a 2pt play in overtime and blow the opportunity to beat OU and take first place in the south at that point in the season

Then the next week I think was the game where Fran kicked the fg late in the game to I think cut it to 1 or 2 rather than go for the first the fourth down to keep the drive going to try and get the go ahead td

This game was likely to be decisive from the moment the schedule came out
Given the schedule 10-2 with a win over tu was an optimistic but reasonable expectation for the season and would possibly get us into the cfp.
1sr year coach and staff to be in the discussion is huge turnaround and for those people with bad memories we were on almost a 2 year road losing streak under Jimbo

I don't know if going 10-2 beating tu would have been a 'reasonable' expectation for Year 1. If 1 is extreme pessimism and 10 extreme optimism, I would have put my optimism at doing that preseason about a 3.

And I am still only at about a 5 right now. Getting through these last 2 games still tremendous hurdle.

I'd be on board with this if the team was healthy. But we're not. It's hard to grow and build momentum when you realize QB1 sucks, you're on RB3, and OL and receivers are hurt. You're not going to get performance improvement in those circumstances.

Amidst a plethora of gibberish about this game on this board (some of it written by me, I'll admit), that is the one statement of complete truth and clarity.

Probably should have said best case scenario which is a step above optimistic reasonable

Before the season I thought
tu ND Mizzou and UF were likely overrated and we had three of those games at home

We had a new staff but a fair amount of talent
If the over under wine on wins was 9.5 I had to bet I would have taken the under but I would not have bet very much

There is no turning point for A&M, we are destined to set on our butts in the bottom or the middle of the pack and pick our noses!

This team has already met expectations….playing with house money. Elko needs to upgrade recruiting asap and that means letting coaches that cannot reel in SEC talent on offense pack their bags after year one. We cannot have Aub and Lsu ranked ahead of us in 2025 class after this season and objectively say anyone on offense staff is getting the job done. No QB, RB, or WR note worthy recruits 2-weeks before early signing period is major red flag.
