As a current senior who was in line all night, most of everything you are hearing is complete bs.

First, the guy who yelled "charge" said it because a bunch of dudes were sneaking up to peoples tents in line to see if they were awake so they could cut them. Chaos was about to start anyway because a bunch of people were anticipating a rush before the scheduled time. He yelled it to essentially warn everyone, he also played purge music very loudly on a giant speaker before causing the rush. Also it was not done because people were going to bonfire memorial, that had nothing to do with it.

Second, from someone I sat next to in class, the person that pulled 500 tickets was a senior (his roommate) not a part of any org who was simply doing it for profit. He left the game super early to get first in line. He bought a bunch of guest tickets that had no limit to them so that he could sell them and make a HUGE profit. His family even chipped in money for him in order for him to buy all the guest tickets. He also had a bunch of other students sports passes so that he could have 2 guest tickets to every sports pass. Guest tickets are 100 dollars.

Third, it is very common for orgs and frats to pull a large number of tickets for their members and members' friends/girlfriends/boyfriends. All the rumors of all the different frats and mens orgs pulling 700 tickets just to sell them to tu fans is just dudes f'ing with each other on social media.

Now, there is a possibility that a frat went up there just to make profit or sell it their tu buddies. I have no way to confirm or deny that because there is no realm of possibility that the person at the front of the line pulling 700 tickets and making every student behind them wait would proudly tell everyone what org/frat they are in. Not one person is stupid enough to make their org/frat look that bad.

All of these giant group pulls automatically get 3rd deck.

With all of that being said, it's not a mystery why this was such a sh** show. We are the largest student section in the country. This is the biggest game of not only my entire college career but the past 10 years of college football. College students are idiots. Our ancient tradition of in person ticket pull has major flaws especially when dealing with this magnitude of students. We simply need to change the system. But, I will admit there was definitely a lot of bad bull going on that I wish didn't. Majority of our student body did exactly what they were supposed to but with all good things someone will ruin it.

I can proudly say that me and my buddies and our girlfriends did it exactly the way you're supposed to and camped out for over 30 hours. We got great seats on the 2nd deck and I'm super excited to cheer my Ags on and BTHO tu.

Hopefully this clears a good amount of things up.

They should drop the tickets into Kyle via helicopter and let students grab as many as they can get their hands on. No other rules - only the strong survive.

Yea, I would yell CHARGE to if I wanted to warn everyone. Makes sense.

Instead of advancing into this century and use technology to get rid of this ancient ticket pull ritual, we should go the other direction to full on Hunger Games to get tickets.

Who's with me?!! Anyone?!!!!!!

The guest ticket sales sound like the issue. But op got the price wrong if the window followed this:

"Guest tickets for the Texas game are $200 each (limited availability).
Student conversion and walk-up tickets for the Texas game are $100 each."

https://app.12thman.com/2024TicketPullInfo

So I'd guess nothing he claimed was true…there should not be any guest tickets sold in bulk with out a guarantee to football pass holders who paid being met. Traditionally the limit was one per pulled ticket not two though on most other games I salute the revenue generation. And in all honest: nothing about a student ticket has ever suggested a SEAT during the game…so maybe SRO for overflow on student tickets was ALWAYS the plan…

On Monday the guest tickets prices were posted on the ticket pull window listed as 100 dollars. Additionally they announced that they were doing 2 guest tickets to every sports pass Sunday night but that could be wrong. That is what I heard from the school, for early pulls. But yes everything I said was me lying and just trying to mess with everyone on TexAgs. Totally didn't witness everything with my own eyes sitting outside for 30 hours. You got me man!

And just to clarify from you that the only thing that I could be wrong/misinformed about is how many guest tickets go to each sports pass and how much for each, which is info I was given sitting in line before any tickets were pulled. But everything I said was wrong? Got it.

First, thanks for taking the time to provide your detailed and direct knowledge of the situation, and glad you and your buddies got good seats !

Second. Sure wish you could provide some ideas on how to change the process. If there's a way for you to do a "student poll", where you could gather input from a wide variety (e.g., frats, non-frat, soroity, non-soroity, corps, non-regs, etc.) of fellow students, and provide the results to the zoo, I'm sure you would get some good ideas. Who knows, you might even hit someone on the zoo who would present a recommendation for change to whatever department handles the Student Pull program.

Gig 'em, enjoy the tu game, and best to you for graduation !

Charge? Yeah, that's BS, you don't yell "Charge" as a warning to anything, especially cutting lines.

How does the system even allow this? Goodness, someone needs to lose their job. This is so stupid.

This is all frustrating and dumb.

Let's just go to a lottery system already.

One person bought 500 tickets!? GTFOH

Thank you sir. I appreciate the kind words. Unfortunately the solution to this is way above my pay grade but a very common practice for the majority of the other schools in the country is an online ticket pull. Kind of like the process we use to register for classes, with Seniors getting the first tickets. That is what I would do, but I'm sure there is a lot more to it than just making it online. This will also be my last game as a student and the last time I do ticket pull so I don't really have to worry about it anymore.

Just wanted to clear things up for all the people on Texags that don't know all the details. I don't want to misinform anyone, just want to share all the things I know from being there when everything happened.

In all honesty: if they posted $100 there and twice that on their website then everything you said makes sense. But I was suggesting from my first post on the first thread from the beginning the story was not complete. The mere concept they allowed enough guest ticket sales to push student tickets to SRO is a betrayal and arguably fraud by the ticket office which I understand is run by the TMF. I look forward to an incomplete accounting to hide the outcome and lots of additional revenue…

This was due to everyone essentially living outside the ticket pull line for 30+ hours. People accumulated a lot of trash from food and other things. And then combine that with the giant rain storm that ensued the morning of ticket pull, you get all that trash on the ground.

Not defending the students because the trash on the ground is ridiculous. I don't know why its so hard for people to throw their trash away. But the process of not leaving your spot because of people trying to take it probably does contribute to all the trash being left.

The fact that so many people left their A&M-branded camping chairs suggests that they were stolen from tailgates during the NMS game on the way to the ticket office.

Seems like you make a lot of excuses for dumb **** that stupid people do.

Colonel Custer yelling "charge" as a warning.

1 person buying 500 tickets, even if they had 250 or whatever sports passes.

and "aww yeah trash sucks, but what about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee".

We used to do this with a piece of paper and a pen (except for that one time) when I was in school.

that stack of trash is pathetic.
but then it's not too much to ask for the school to have a boatload of trash cans in the general vicinity of the ticket office either.

that said....if this happened with a bunch of trash cans less than 30 FT away, then they should all be lined up and shot on site, firing squad style.

Not trying to make an excuse for the poor actions of fellow students. Just trying to add information on what contributed to them being sh**ty and not throwing away trash. And not once did I defend Colonel Custer or the guy who pulled 500 tickets, just again adding my perspective from actually being here and not a former ag whos been graduated for 40 years complaining about the new generation.
