Like others have said in other threads, the lack of respect usually bodes well for A&M. We are a better program when we have a chip on our shoulder.

When you haven't won anything meaningful in 25 years (meaning conference championship), you tend to have a hard time gaining respect.

We have a tough road schedule coming up. Play the games and that will determine the level of respect we deserve.

Everyone in the world always acts like they are owed respect when they haven't done sh&#. How about they go out and earn some? The Miami game was their first chance to do that and they wet the bed.

Would love to see it. Not going to hold my breath though.

No one said the season is over. We've simply pointed out we've done nothing of significance to gain the respect mentioned by the OP. We can change that, but to date we have miserably failed to do so.

Short-term memories, recency bias, the horn effect, etc. lead to these takes. While Ole Miss has a 2-game winning streak going, their all time record vs the Ags is 3-9. Add their win over LSU and the fact its a home game and their confidence is understandable if misplaced.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

So over the last 2 weeks we easily beat 2 teams that LSU
And Georgia struggled to beat.

The improved defense is the key to taking control of the sec west by winning on Saturday. A win over Bama means sole possession of the SEC West lead and we could have 2 game leads over both old miss and lsu when we play them.

One at a time.

We are ranked top 5 in yards allowed. The last 2 sec game we did not allow an offensive TD.

We do not deserve any respect until we win double digit games. If all we can manage is 9 or fewer wins with our talent, other schools should absolutely laugh at us and disrespect us. Ole Miss has no reason to think they won't beat us. Kiffin owns Jimbo's ass, and haven't we only beat them 3-4 times since joining the SEC? We don't deserve any respect.

Jimbo has told this team to "change the narrative". They are the only ones that can do that by their play on the field.

We win the next two games the narrative will change dramatically. Then everyone will be patting them on the back telling them how great they are. Then the next challenge will be to block out the noise and still play with that chip on their shoulder.

You mean we lost the last 2 games to ole Miss. We didn'tt play them in 2020 when we were 9-1 vs all SEC schedule and finished ranked number 4.

This is the 2nd time that we have started 4-1 and the first time that we have started 2-0 in SEC play under Jimbo Fisher. In the previous 5 years, 4 teams prevented us from starting 2-0 in SEC play: Alabama in 2018 and 2020, Auburn in 2019, Arkansas in 2021, and Mississippi State in 2021 and 2022. We need to clean up a few things: a turnover margin of -2, defensive touchdown allowed for the 2nd straight week, and 2 missed field goals to beat Alabama.

Beating Alabama give us sole possession of first place in the SEC West division title, but we will have shortened travel week to play a well-rested Tennessee team coming off bye week. We also have to win at least one true road game to earn some respect. If we lose all 3 road games at Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU, we will carry a 10-game road losing streak into next week. Hopefully, we can win all 7 home games and win at least one true road game for at least a 9-3 (6-2 SEC) finish.

We have lost 7 consecutive true road games. We will likely be underdogs in all 3 road games at Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU. If we lose all 3 SEC true road games, we will carry a 10-game road losing streak into next year. With a much improved defense, I think we can win at least one of those road games.

Tennessee: We will be coming off a grueling home game against Alabama, and Tennessee will be coming off a bye week. That double whammy makes this road game the toughest of the 3 true SEC road games. Tennessee has not had played a road game since a 29-16 loss at Florida on 9/16. Hopefully, we beat Alabama and carry momentum into Knoxville to mitigate the home field and rest advantage that Tennessee has.

Ole Miss: We will be coming off a home game against South Carolina, and Ole Miss will be playing their second consecutive home game after hosting Vanderbilt. This is Jimbo Fisher's last opportunity to beat Lane Kiffin before the SEC eliminates divisions next year. Also, this game will be a matchup between offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino and Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

LSU: LSU's defense has been porous. They allowed 31+ points 3 times already: 45 to Florida State in Orlando on 9/3, 31 to Arkansas at home on 9/23, and 55 at Ole Miss last Saturday. I think Max Johnson and our offense can win a shootout at LSU.
