Warning, long post…

Nuño and Liucci consider the question that should immediately come to mind when reflecting on this past season, "how many games do we win with Sub Zero?"

Smith and Foster were two of the biggest pieces on the offensive side of the ball that we could ill-afford to lose. Each critical for our success, and we lost both. The Mountain with his strength, size and the lack of depth at such a key position, and Sub Zero with his versatility, leadership and play-making ability. Two of the most knowledgeable players on the field, and nobody on the depth chart fills the void they leave behind.

The safety valve alone that Smith provides for some of our developing QBs getting their first taste of SEC football would have been invaluable especially with an O-Line that was so heavily challenged week after week. Couple that with his ability to change the game on the special teams front and I completely agree this is a team that's much closer to 10 wins rather than 5 with him in the fold.

Too often as fans we get sucked into the number of stars next to a name rather than looking for the intangibles that make all the difference when it comes to a team's unity and success. Characteristics like knowledge, leadership, integrity, grit, loyalty and selflessness rarely manifest on film or can be graded like their value truly deserves.

It's apparent this coaching staff has made the difficult, but necessary, decisions to rid the program of some of the "Louis Vuitton baggage" that other programs clamor for and have retained the blue-collar lunch pails and toolboxes that championship teams depend on. Can't wait to see Sub Zero run it back one more time. Much of our historic recruiting class got meaningful experience and we return senior leadership that is both talented and fully committed. 2023 could be a very special year and is shaping up to be one that our Fightin' Texas Aggies have been longing for!
