That you can remember?

Those post-Johnny sumlin teams were bad. 2011 was a dog **** season. Fran had some bad ones. This team is laden with talent, but zero direction and zero leadership.

This feels a lot like 2002 to me. An offense that struggles to get first downs, and can't score. A freshman qb on the sidelines. A capable OC not calling plays.

This current team would beat the 2008 team 60-0.

That was the worst team ever.

Don't put that evil on Conner after what happened to Reggie against Mizzou.

2011 isn't close to worst. Might actually be one of the better teams. Gobs of talent. There wasn't a single game where we should've just stayed home… by that I mean that the team absolutely belonged on the same field as every opponent and should have won a whole lot more games. Lord knows what happened at halftime, but they simply couldn't finish games out.

2003, 2005, and 2008 are abominations.

This game will be the gold standard for worst loss by a Power Team. Yes, OU was #1, undefeated, and at home. But we never crossed midfield. They were ahead 77-0 in the 3rd quarter. At one point, Stoops had the QB kneel...on 1st down...inside the 10, with several minutes to go. That looked terrible, so instead, he just ordered the QB to handoff to a running back and have him go straight down to the fetal position on the next three plays...only to see Johnny Jolly celebrate as if he made a goal line stand after landing on top of the RB who was going to the ground.

If OU had wanted to win that game by 100+ points that day, that would have taken minimal effort.

Other than that team beating a putrid Baylor team 77-14 in CS, it was the worst season since before Jackie roamed the sidelines.

Yes. 0-77 was in THREE quarters. Could have easily gone to 0-100 if OU wanted to further rub our sorry noses into the mud.

If John Jenkins had been the coach that day, they would have gone for 350 points.

I started paying attention to college football my fish year (2007). By far, the worst team in my memory was 2008, with the second and third places being some ordering of 2007 and 2009. Fourth is probably 2017. It is a true testament to Texas A&M that they were able to convert me into a diehard fan during that stretch.

Boy that's a tough call. IIRC, we almost lost to Army right at the end of the game in 2008 and would have been 3-9. Lost to Ark State and lost to Baylor when we used to actually beat Baylor. I still gotta go with 03 because the OU loss and because of Fran.

I would have said the 1969 Ags (3-7) except that the next year's group managed to beat that: the 1970 Ags went 2-9.

We aren't anywhere near the Worst TAMU teams I've seen.

New Army, you don't know what suffering is. You have no idea.
In my 4 years A&M football NEVER had a winning season....NEVER.
My Freshman year I do recall we went 2-9.
After that, w/o googling, I think we were 5-6, 3-8, 5-6.
A&M was considered one of the "Bottom Ten" teams in American during that time. Think about that.
The only bright spot is that we did hire Emory Bellard after the my sophomore season and he got us on the path that has lead us where we are today.
So as bad as you might think it is today, believe me it can and has been much worst.
You want to talk suffering...go find any Old Army Ag for some insight on that topic.

I was in the stands in Norman that day.
Yes Oklahoma could of scored 100 points , for sure in the 90's.
They were running plays not even in their playbook in the 4th quarter with basically scout team players and for the 2nd half of the 4th quarter they basically kept a running clock.

Ou was running fullback dives literally falling down on purpose

Then of course the infamous Melvin Bullitt tackle for a loss and celebration

Theat 95-96 team that lost to ULM/USL were the ones who started us on this permanent mediocrity path (minus a handful of blips to keep us coming back for more).

They maybe weren't as bad as others but the contrast between them and where we'd been playing under RC was jarring...they finally exposed the weaknesses in the program that we somehow always managed to overcome in previous seasons.

2008 was the absolute worst from a talent standpoint. That team was dreadful and got blown out each week.

2011 and 2013 were the most disappointing given the expectations for that team preseason.
2022 will likely join company with 2011 and 2013 on biggest letdowns given the hype going into the season.

Don't get too cocky. If Saban wants major revenge, I really think Bama could run up the score on us this year and be comparable to that.

I hope I am wrong but we are running the dumbest defensive scheme ever and our Offense is terrible. It may get really ugly this Sat.

We just got whipped by Miss St and Bama is a totally different beast.

I thnk the talent was better in 2003 than 2008.

Surely there were worse teams back in the day. Go look up 1970. Went 2-9 with only wins against non-conf Wichita St and somehow beat an LSU team that finished the season 9-3.

1964 went 1-9 - we beat SMU
1960 went 1-6-3
1954 went 1-9 (beat Georgia)
1949 went 1-8-1
1948 went 0-9-1 (I think the only winless season in the history of the program)

I've been watching for around 30 years and 2003 has to be the worst during that period to me. That 77-0 game almost broke me. Thankfully I was so drunk midway through the 3rd quarter I didn't have to deal with as much at the time. Unfortunately I talked a whole lot of trash pregame to some OU friends and I still get grief for that day from them

Go back further:

After Emory Bellard removed

Tom Wilson HC 1978-1981
21-19
A horrible loss during that time frame to University of Louisiana-Lafayette, formerly University of Southwestern Louisiana. We could have played them 10 times and the outcome would have been the same.
