Instead of having division champions play each other, the teams with the best winning percentages in conference games will compete against each other. Smart move by the PAC which is already leaving the pricey Bay Area for cheaper locales.

Only covid year and 2005 would have changed… dating back to 2005 in the sec

Two best reduces stinky championship games…but for Big 12 round robin it is superfluous and for division scheduling you could be leaving out the tougher division (which probably is a goal since the cross-division games don't necessarily have balanced challenge.)

The NFL solves for the most balanced schedules it can within the division by having them play each other twice (six games), another in-conference division (four games), a division in another conference (four games) and two other games that aren't shared. Then seeding does the rest with weaker records getting lower seeds (see NFC East…)

I don't hate that they're doing this. But I am not certain if it is truly going to produce more eyeballs or more semi invites…

Yeah, PAC needs more quality OOC games.

it's not a bad idea, but it's not going to help the Pac-12 that much.

and with 9 conference games already --- there is a high probability of a rematch...which is not good.

see what happened to the Big 12 last year

Well, we made them look like a power conference member that night.

You are welcome, Utah.

The PAC joined an alliance because they were afraid the SEC would get too many spots in an expanded playoff so they are not great at history… or math. Maybe this will work out better.

Wrong. Since they went to a division format in 2011 this rule would have impacted the matchup in four different seasons
