Evidently, Saban had trouble with him, so it makes you wonder about Sark's judgment in taking him.
Sark sucked last year. He has no choice. He has to win before he enters a real conference or he is dead man walking
Sark actually did a decent job last year. He oversaw the install of the third defense in three years, replaced a three year starter at QB, led an offense that score a lot of points with no OL, installed a culture where the players actually trust the coach, and weeded out a few malcontents who weren't ready to accept another change of leadership.
When Charlie Strong was herp derping his was to 5-7 every year, I knew he couldn't fix it. He was obviously lost. When Herman followed 10-4 with 8-5 and 7-3 It was obvious the players had checked out and were tired of his mind games and straight up lies.
Sark's 5-7 was disappointing, but the mood around spring and fall camp didn't match that negativity. Texas seems to have some veteran leadership for the first time in a long time and they seem to be buying into to Sark's methods and philosophy…much like A&M when Jimbo got there. Sark also sounds much more confident a year and a half into the job. He seems to be enjoying himself. 8-4 means it's working. I think it's possible. He's most likely got three more years to make the playoffs. If not, Texas is back to the flavor of the month and more mediocrity.
