Speaking of Waffle House, and I am not saying theirs are good as the are merely average, but I hope more Aggies / Texans are consumers of good grits, which is a uniquely southern staple.

I had always purchased Anson Mills out of SC but then discovered and am now loyal to Homestead Gristmill out of Waco, they have excellent grits and other grains.

I prefer not to eat garbage so I'll avoid both

Are you thinking of The Kettle?
Man, that place was good. Not trashy, smelly and sticky.

On university across from polo fields there was a kettle.. their sign out front did not say "Kettle"
It had individual little signs , one letter on each sign…and in black letters with yellow background it spelled out " PANCAKES"

Looked very very similar to the signage of a Waffle House

I believe this is why many confuse it as there being a Waffle House .. but it was a Kettle.
Hmm. I thought there was a Kettle on or near the SW corner of the intersection of Texas and Southwest Pkwy. Kinda near Pelican's Wharf. Am I wrong about that?

You're not wrong, there was (is?) another Kettle there.

And this is exactly why the Waffle House is popular.
You don't really like it, hell you probably have never even been to one….to you it's just the southern thing, the SEC thing to like the Waffle House.. so you adopt that feeling as well.
I doubt you have ever even been to a Waffle House.
They still had this username available in 1999? What the hell? Good job, snaggin' that!

@ Aggie: ok that explanation makes sense, and has to be what I'm recalling incorrectly. My mistake

@ Muy: Never. Probably why I assumed they were soccer fields… lol

So to recap: I'm terrible w old Aggie landmarks, but waffle house is absolute garbage

If someone gave you a pecan waffle from Waffle House on a plain white plate, you would say it's the best damn waffle you ever had

Lies from satan! Dont ever tell me which waffle is the best.

unless you weigh more than I do
Probably got you but I have been eating lean protein and rabbit food so hopefully not for long

Brother I've been north of 400 elbows for 11 years now.

Im getting close to the 3s again tho. Trust the process

I love Waffle House.

You must also like flies and the homeless guy in the corner.

The sticky tabletops are an extra bonus...
That's me in the corner.
That's me in the spotlight.

Three pages dedicated to Waffle House debate! That's fantastic!
Stayed in Gulfport Mississippi for a few days. There was a Waffle House pretty much on either side of the hotel. It was amazing. You're never more than 2 blocks from Waffle House.
Mi esposa does not agree with the"amazing" part....at all.

I like waffle house and I've been to several. Is it going to change your life? No. But I could see one absolutely jam packed late night in CS when the bars close.

Also not to derail completly from Waffle House..

But Kettle restaurants at one point had over 265 locations nationwide… today there are only 4 Kettle restaurants open.. And one is in college station and one in Bryan.
Other locations are in one Laredo and one in Tuscon, Az

I must be mistaken, I thought there was an old abandonded Waffle House on university near texas. across from the soccer fields.

It was long closed by the time I saw the building in mid 2000s

You mean the old IHOP? That place was always packed. Not sure why it didn't last.

You don't intentionally set out to dine at Waffle House. You end up there sometimes, but never plan in advance to go there.

I have planned on eating at WH twice: once in new Iberia, Louisiana and once in batesville, Mississippi.

Pissed in one in Starkville after pounding morning beers all the way from Philadelphia, MS on the way to Sumlin's chrome uni assrape in 2014. Bummed I didn't grab a bite looking back.
