I'm not sure. I'm thinking if they offer, is he willing to wait at least 5 years for a conference championship. If not, I think he jumps ship. I think LSU is in a better position than OU for conference championship.......even with all of the fallout that will be coming from the investigation.

Wonder how many of these "Hey, Look at me!!!" posts some will be putting up here in the next 2-3 weeks.

Nope. It is definitely going to be Jimmy Johnson. I heard he is going to quit his gig at Fox to take on the challenge. He is also going to dock his boat in Lake Charles so that he has easier access to the casinos there. J/K

If Lsu has their coach in waiting, keeping it under wraps is detrimental to recruiting. If they dont, grab the popcorn for the **** show.

Not that I'm an insider in any way, but I have a hard time believing Riley is leaving OU for Baton Rouge.

Whoever LSU gets, I have a feeling it will be a pretty underwhelming hire considering the buyout they are paying.

Sounds like a good move to me, on both sides. OU has been able to dominate the Big12, but one or two down years in the SEC and they end up looking like a cheaper version of MSU or SC. Tough to recruit a boatload of 5 stars to Norman for a team that finishes middle of the pack most years.

Moving to the SEC will be a great move for tu, but it will end up being a disaster for OU.

However, coaching in the SECw at LSU sooner or OU later would make someone evaluate best opportunities to win.

This would be a good move for Lincoln. Moving to SEC will turn Oklahoma into another Arkansas. Move will help t.u. if they can get out of their own way. Pod-wise, I think we should grab the Bama/LSU core by the buckle and not get left on the SEC periphery.

Even with winning, OU has struggled at times against weak opponents. If I were LSU, I'd rather have someone that's built a program, has beaten who they should, and has over-performed.

I can't base my opinion on facts, but can only say that there is something about Riley that would keep me from hiring him if I were Scott Woodward. Too much, too soon, inherited program.

What is most likely is that they don't have a splash hire at all.

Yes, LSU is easy to recruit at. But if you don't win immediately at LSU, the fan base will get you fired.
No one wants that.

LSU is a lot like Texas in that regard. It's a very high stress job, that the very best options can just take a pass on.

Riley isn't going there. Neither is Jimbo. Or any other coach that is comfortably making bank winning where they are now. It's just not worth it.

They will get a coach that is up and coming that's hungry and possibly an OC or a DC.

If you want to really freak out, our DC is likely a realistic candidate. But I wouldn't leave A&M for LSU. If I were Elko. I would wait for Florida. Dan is likely gone in a season if he doesn't right the ship.

Elko is NOT a realistic candidate. LSU isn't even considering a DC or OC for that job unless their Top 10 candidates all deny it.

It will absolutely be a big splash hire for the sake of PR. Woodward loves himself too much.

Oh that's what he WANTS. Yes. But that's not what will happen. Look at Texas. You don't think they would have loved a big splash hire? They will search long and hard for the splash hire. But I don't see it.

Who is it? Jimbo? Nope. Riley? Nope. He will be in the SEC anyway in a few years. Look at their previous hires. Do you think they would have Ed there if they could have gotten Jimbo earlier? He's already told them no once.

Why? Because of the culture and it's toxicity. Woodward will try like hell. But he will fail.

In the end, they are exactly like Texas from a taking care of their coaches perspective. It's a constant hot seat.

Coaches will believe they could win a natty and be out just two years later. No coach already comfortably doing well will tolerate that.

No one wants that that can avoid it. They will be FORCED to take an OC or a DC. They don't want to. They won't have any other options because serious coaches already making bank comfortably won't go there.

They would have to sign a buyout of epic proportions and LSU simply won't do that.

Exactly. It's a constant hot bed. It's not what they sell it as and smart coaches know that.

I just do not get the attraction for LSU for a good established coach. LSU is like the Sips a cesspool. Massive interference by alumni. Firing Brown is a classic example. Nothing has happened. Firing Herman was stupid and for LSU the Les Miles firing was as bad.

Exactly. The pattern is clear. Les wins a natty. Fired a couple years later. Ed wins a natty. Fired two years later. Established coaches know how rare nattys are and they won't go to a place that has stupid (moronic even) expectations without an enormous buyout clause.

And LSU doesn't have that kind of money to write that kind of check for a coach to leave their school.

The funny thing about this is I jokingly said in the BlowU KU game thread yesterday that the reason BlowU blows so much this year is because Riley has checked out and is headed to LSU.
