We don't have a QB suited for running a straight option offense which is, as I understand it, what the wishbone is built around.

There's a reason very few offenses run it anymore.

This game he took a safety.

You want to install a new offense, that the entire unit has to adjust to, and put the game in the hands of someone who has proven that he lacks the confidence to make good decisions?

The flexbone is the wishbone evolved.

But, it comes with too many built in limitations to ever compete for a sec title.

I love running football and I cannot stand the fact that modern offenses pass most of the time. I'd rather see Jimbo run the I-formation because you can do anything out of it. We actually ran it pretty well on occasion with Cullen Gillespia at FB. Max Wright would be a great full back in that system.

Why would we want to run an offense that requires run blocking by an oline that can't consistently run block. Jimbo is having to rely on Calz because we can't control the LOS. You guys need to re-watch the game last night, especially the parts where we needed to run in the second half.

The Pirate runs the modern day version with the run and shoot offense. It has many more options than the wishbone or flexbone. That's why he only uses a 5x7 card instead of Jimbo's encyclopedia.

The Pirate runs the Air Raid. Run & Shoot is completely different.

But you are right. I remember when Leach was at Tech, he said they never carried more than 30 plays into a game at a time. If they added a play or concept, they took one out to not overload the QB and Receivers.

In the wishbone halfbacks have to block and I can't see ours wanting to do that.
