Fisher is only 3 years into a 10 year contract. A lot can change for the worse after the first 3 seasons, as Sumlin showed us. Granted, the program is on a positive trajectory now as opposed to under Sumlin, but it makes no sense to extend the man until A) he does what he's paid to do and wins a NC, or B) gets into year 6 or 7 of the contract, and the program is still heading in the right direction and trending up.

There is no favorable comparison to Sumlin's first years vs. Jimbo. Sumlin inherited a team with Top 10 talent and finished #5 in year 1 and it deteriorated every day of every year since. Jimbo did not inherit a team with Top 25 talent and beat LSU year 1 and finished ranked top 20 and in Year 3 finished #4. Totally different trajectories, Jimbo recruits at an elite level, Jimbo already has more SEC wins at home, Jimbo is 2-1 vs. LSU, by any metric Jimbo is performing light years ahead of Sumlin and will continue to do so.

Also, 2019, it is disingenuous to talk about record vs. ranked teams, as we didn't just play ranked teams, we played and lost to three (3!) teams ranked #1, #4 and #8 at the time, all of which finished 1/3/5/12/13. Sumlin couldn't even beat both MS schools in the same season by the end and the games with Pig were getting closer and closer. Losses to unraked teams giving up 30/40/50 points, soft team, terrible defense.

In 2020 we played an SEC only schedule, finished 10-1 and ranked #4, only loss to eventual NC who won the NC game by the same/similar score we lost at their stadium.

Sumlin could have coached at A&M another 10 years and was not going to finish with a top 25 ranked team one time or beat LSU ever....

Contract with Fisher means absolutely nothing. He can walk anytime he wants without penalty or buyout.

the numbers were leaning heavily in Jimbo's favor after the Orange Bowl...

but Sumlin went 8-5 including 4-4 in the SEC in his fourth year (2015).

The problem with making bold statements like this.... or ragging on Arkansas for being clowned by Texas (Not saying you specifically did that).... is that your words better match up to what we see on Saturdays otherwise it'll age like milk.

A&M is a good school and all (outside of football), but we cannot talk like we've won a few NCs in the last decade or two. Though, you read TexAgs and it sure does sound like it.

Unless he gets caught banging a cord jimbo is the coach for the next 10 years.
