If there are any...

I live in South Louisiana and would love nothing more than to see those rascals take it on the chin multiple times. Lack of institutional control anyone?

Apparently there was more to that sucking sound in BR than LSU sucking in recruits!

Nothing has changed at LSU. This stuff happens there perennially. Heck, their basketball coach got got by the frickin' FBI with a wire tap and he's still the coach. No, this isn't changing anything. When LSU is looking clean, that's when something is weird. what you're seeing right now, THIS is LSU.

Will have to be an incredible amount of proof and women willing to swear under oath in court for LSU to get any sanctions.
LSU is the most powerful institution in Louisiana with some very powerful alumni and lawyers and state govt representatives.
It will take the NCAA or some federal agency to do any real investigative work and dole out any significant punishment.
Nobody in the state will take on LSU.
The alumni, fans, and the Louisiana population in general doesn't give a damn how bad it is as long as they keep playing football.
LSU football is all they have in life.
So bottom line is there won't be any significant sanctions...just a slap on the wrist and maybe scapegoating Orgeron to make it look like they are doing something.

Crippling sanctions are unlikely, but yes they would help us. We recruit slot of the same athletes.

You are spot on about "the only thing they have in life is LSU football." Sadly, I see this everyday in the little corner of my wife's Louisiana. The only word many LSU fans can spell is "LSU"

However, institutional control is an issue that should be addressed with scholly reductions and no bowls for the foreseeable future. I mean "come on man!"

Should means very little to the NCAA. They know who they can hammer and who they cannot. LSU is too big to fail.

Yeah, well the NCAA may be so mad at LSU about this latest incident to put sanctions on Tulane.

The NCAA can't afford to lose another men's tournament. So the notion they have the moral high ground for taking down LSU and other blue bloods seems awfully sketchy to me given the visible conflicts of interest by all parties...

The NCAA has been a toothless dog ever since they tried to punish Pedo State and failed. They've spent 5 years trying to figure out how to punish Baylor and make it stick. Their investigation into Baylor is still ongoing and is probably something they just gave up on at this point. NCAA really doesn't have the legal jurisdiction to enforce anything except punishments for recruiting violations, paying players, academic eligibility, etc. If they try to do anything, LSU will just lawyer-up on them like PSU did. And as one poster already mentioned, the state government won't do anything since it's more or less been official policy ever since Huey Long was governor that LSU is in a league of its own as the flagship school.

The only way to hit them is in the pocket-book, and sadly, that means using (and legitimizing) the tools of Kann-Sull Kull-Choor.

1) NCAA excludes LSU from all tourneys it actually controls, e.g. mens basketball
2) NCAA makes a public relations push to persuade others to sever links to LSU, e.g. athletic wear providers
3) Pressure brought to bear on SEC to sanction or exclude LSU from activities, including revenue sharing and TV broadcasts.

I don't like any of those things. But if LSU gets told to clean house or they don't get on TV anymore and they lose out on member distributions, they start paying attention.

Likelihood of SEC actually doing that in a way where good lawyers can't force the SEC to back off? Slim... and we haven't seen him much lately.

This is so true... LSU could be caught paying players, raping co-eds at football parties, money laundering, you name it, and the NCAA would flex its muscles and issue sanctions against Tulane for a recruiting phone call during a dead period. I don't even know why there is a NCAA anymore -- it's ridiculous.

We probably won't see anything close to what LSU deserves, but they will probably get another 1-2 years of bowl ban and maybe some scholarship reductions... hard to argue against a "lack of institutional control" given the mounting stack of incidents against them.

LSU is one of those programs...where nothing ever really happens to them.

this stuff has been going on since the program started winning at a high level in the 21st century...and went next-level bad under Les Miles...and hasn't stopped

Yep, brings back memories of the old Jerry Tarkanian quote: "The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation."
