It's a small sample size, but I liked his competitiveness. One nice back shoulder throw and one under throw. He's not afraid of contact that's for sure. Mond won't be benched, but I hope to see him get some reps again.

Looked like some run plays and scrambles from a slow skinny kid then an interception. About right?

Mond showed zero interest in rooting for and encouraging the freshman QB. He looked lethargic and pissed whenever they showed him on the sidelines in those final minutes.

I'm ready to move on from Mond, but if he looked happy you would have criticized him for looking happy while getting their arses kicked.

cause he's not a good leader

that is not what he is saying. he is saying that mond COULD have been looking to help out by speaking to receivers when they were shifting packages, shouting help from the sideline, etc....instead he stands with arms crossed, looking like he smelled a bad fart.

Love the way that he navigated the pocket and his decisiveness. Man, it was just good to see another QB back there besides zero energy Mond.

Was doing decent until he threw an interception. He moved the ball which was good but he was also doing it against 2nd/3rd stringers on defense.

That was a bad throw. If he's next in line, he can't make mistakes like that in the ball game regardless of the time on the clock.

Not sure why people keep saying that he was playing against bama's 2nd/3rd stringers. All but two player on bama's defense during that drive were first team starters.
As far as his interception throw, his receiver made zero attempt to get the ball or at least prevent the interception. Lazy play from a receiver that was too short to even be running that route.

Good running and a few nice passes. Obviously a mistake on the int. He's a true freshman. Good learning experience against Bama. They still had some starters in. If he and Calzada can get some reps late in games this year it will really help minimize the experience void we will have at QB next year. We also need to get some backup OL experience. We lose 4 of 5 OL starters next year assuming they don't decide to return for a second senior season.

Definitely should have been a better throw with more air under it, however, he was pressing a little trying to get the quick score. The second play of the drive said a lot to me. Pocket is quickly collapsing and without any hesitation he steps up looking to throw to the TE over the middle. The TE had tight coverage on him so he takes off for a nice 8 yard gain. The reaction is quick and fluid and he processes a lot in those few seconds. Many QBs would have been caught flat footed in the backfield for a sack or they would have forced a throw over the middle. He had some exciting plays and the energy he plays with is very tangible. It seems pretty clear that King is hungry and I hope it gets some other guys to take notice and elevate everyone's play.

Yeah that Dylan Moses kid. What a 3rd string talent. Watch the game. Don't just assume they are 2nd team to fit your narrative

The kid's vision of the game was a nice change. Saw the pocket, saw the running lanes, and made a decision and didn't think twice. Hope he can get a step faster next year.

For a first start, I liked how he knew the pocket was closing.
As is the norm, he ran there on the next to last play with a wide open WR that may have scored with a couple blocks, but he still got good yardage out of it.
Our receivers won't face better corners all year, so we should do better going forward with 50/50 balls.

Mond was on the screen for 3 seconds. 3 SECONDS! I counted. Mond may not be a lot of things but you are taking it over board if you judge him for 3 seconds of sideline shots!!!

I think the judgement is based on those 3 seconds plus the last 3 years of his in game and sideline attitude.

Wrong! 9 of the 11 on the bama D during the King series were starters. The other 2 were second string who are part of their regular rotation

It was nice to see some fire from the QB position, but I don't think any real conclusions can be drawn from a drive when the game is effectively over.

I just want to know about the socks strategy. He comes on with on stretched high and one around the ankle. After his long scramble . . both are now low around the ankle.

I do not hold that against a true fish in that situation. Give him all the reps in practice with the 1's and everything we saw looks sharper.

Looking forward to having a real leader at QB and not one who is so insecure that he has to say it.

Forget about the INT and over analyzing his play. The thing to be excited about is he LOOKS and plays like a real football player and QB you want leading your team. There was no hesitation (other than first pass double-clutch either waiting on WR or defender to clear), he got the play and communicated to the team and ran the play, he was decisive when to run, he was not scared, quick decision making. He passed the eyeball test 10000% while Mond has never passed it. Also, he wasn't snapping the ball with 2 seconds left every time, he ran the huddle and the offense more efficiently. His second play EVER, that would have been a sack with Mond, not just Mond as a true FR but Mond right now.

Whenever he is the QB, which I don't think will be this season, he will be a better QB for us under Jimbo than Mond ever was/is IMHO.

agree that king's game makes much our offense sharper.

King had some threat of deep ball and threat of runs...
Defense has to adjust...we're just less than one dimensional with lesser talent on the QB.

This isn't really up for debate. It is a fact...

why it is taking jimbo this long to install another QB when we are getting slaughtered by tight opponents defense since they know we suck in our offense is beyond me.

Yep and our OL is doing an outstanding job considering the constant pressure they get due to opposing D's having zero respect for our QB play.

King properly executed the read option for the first time this season. The DT collapsed down on the RB for another 1-2 yd loss, but King pulls it fo a 4 yd gain. I counted 4 opportunities where Mond could have done the same, but didn't (probably similar #s vs Vandy) . A true fish making reads better than a 3rd year starter is unacceptable.

This is the difference between King and Mond!
It jumps off the screen at you, you can't not see it...he is an instinctive football player vs Mond the robot.

He is the future, and the future should start now!

Give Fisher time to work with King. He'll probably be so tight he squeaks.

King scrambles his way down the field and from the 10 yard line Jimbo calls a fade pattern to a receiver who doesn't fight for the ball. I don't understand the play call or the receiver

Two bad plays by Chase Lane. Didn't even look like he made an effort to get back to the ball on the incompletion or the interception. The interception was a bad ball, but should be noted that King didn't get much help on that one.
