Coach Fisher and Coach Henson will soon have produced an SEC-quality OL for A&M.

For as good as Tennessee's OL is "supposed to be", it really hasn't done anything of note. Their run blocking was average against mediocre teams. Mizzou, Indiana, Vandy, etc during their "winning streak" were not good teams. Their pass blocking was average. Of course, Guarantano sucks.

All those 5 stars and they still suck. Must be the coaches. The best offensive lineman we've had in five years was a 3 star who is the starting center for the Saints. Everybody has size...it gets down to heart. Who wants it the most.

They suck but it's not due to their OL. But also they finished the year on a big winning streak and went into this year ranked #25 WITH all teams in the nation including for AP preseason poll.

There really is not a perfect rating system. So you're absorbing some kind of bias when you depend on one.

I have little doubt that if we won three of the last five NCs our recruits would be rated higher...

Under Bielema, or however you spell the fat dude's name, Arkansas' offensive line was larger than some NFL teams. Every single year we played them, TV broadcasters verbally made love to the Arkansas offensive linemen during the game. It was sickening to hear praise after praise after praise given to the Arkansas offensive line.

Ask Arkansas how they feel about those teams.

UT's winning streak was smoke and mirrors. They played USCe (they sucked at the time), Mizzou and KY (without their starting QB - KY ran the ball the whole game), Vandy (enough said), and a mediocre Indiana team who lacked team speed.

Will they be better? We'll see. I don't think Pruitt will ever have a very good offense.

What am I missing here? When is the last time Tennessee was better than we were? Last year they lost to Georgia St. and BYU. If anything their results devalue the importance of star rankings on an offensive line. I can see using Alabama, LSU, Georgia......but what a terrible choice in Tennessee.

Something to consider is that our entire o-line returns from last year & that 4 of the starters are seniors. While this line wasn't very good last year, they SHOULD be improved with another year of experience under their belts. Experience & familiarity/communication amongst the linemen can overcome some level of talent to a degree.

We will find out soon enough how much (if any) that they have improved.

Exactly, having big guys never hurts... but you need the talent between the ears as well, especially when it comes to centers. Hopefully Kenyon Green having someone experience under his belt is the rising tide that lifts all boats.

That will certainly help, but it's also a case of significant physical differences between an 18 year old freshman and a junior or senior. That's why line is one of the positions that takes the longest to develop - simply a matter of the body maturing at that age range. A less talented junior or senior will generally out play a more talented freshman across the board.
