I was at Kyle Field for four overtime games: the 31-24 OT win over UCLA on 9/3/16, the 45-38 2-OT win over Tennessee on 10/8/16, the 20-14 OT win over Kentucky on 10/6/18, and the 74-72 7-OT win over LSU on 11/24/18.

I saw the 2004 Colorado Game
A&M 29
Colorado 26

First game with my 5 year old son (who is now a Jr. at A&M) from high in the zone.

I bought him a snow cone in the 3rd Qtr. hoping it would keep him occupied until the game ended. BUT - we went into overtime! Fortunately I was able to secure some popcorn to keep him happy and we made it to the end of the game!

Good times.

Only losses I can think of are Kansas State in 2011, Baylor 2004, and the Mississippi State bowl game.

And the Texas Tech multiple missed XP game.

Someone correct me if I forget one?

EDIT: Forgot about Mizzou in 2002.

Yes, we are 14-6 in 20 overtime games. You forgot to include the 38-31 overtime loss to Missouri at home on 10/29/11.

I should have checked it prior to posting it. I had 19-6 before I realized we played in 20 overtime games, not 25.

Ugh.

I tried to block a lot of the 2011 season out of memory. So frustrating.

Yes, we lost five games in which we led by 9 or more points at halftime or later, including to 12-1 Oklahoma State, 11-2 Arkansas and 10-3 Kansas State. We led Oklahoma State 20-3 at halftime before allowing 27 unanswered points and losing 30-29. Oklahoma State was 10-0 and ranked No. 2 before a 37-31 2 OT loss at Iowa State costed them a BCS Championship game appearance against LSU. We led Arkansas 35-17 at halftime before losing 42-38. We led Kansas State 31-21 with 6:38 left in the game, but allowed Kansas State to score 10 unanswered points to force overtime. In the fourth overtime, we kicked a field goal before giving up the game winning touchdown to lose 53-50.

The only great win was a 55-28 rout of Baylor, who finished 10-3. If we had won home games against Oklahoma State, Missouri, and Texas, we would have finished 9-3 (7-2 in Big 12 games), 3rd place in Big 12, ranked in the top 15, and played in a higher tier bowl.

Yeah, well. Sherman wanted to call plays and didn't manage games well because of it.

Beating tceh there was nice, but again, that game was much closer than it should've been.

My thoughts:

Beating KSU was awesome. For being relatively new to good, the fans I met were terrible.

Aggie band is tremendous (LSU band SUCKS).

Armani Watts was awesome.

Fran sucked.

That is all.

We sure got into a lot of OT games where we were ranked an the opponent was not (including 3 against terrible ARK teams).

For as bad as the defense has been over the years, they secured a fair number of those wins.

In 2014, Arkansas actually got better as the season progressed. They started 4-5 (0-5 in SEC games) and had lost 17 straight SEC games before blanketing LSU 17-0 and Ole Miss 30-0. Then, they lost at eventual SEC East Champion Missouri 21-14 before crushing Texas 31-7 in the Texas Bowl to finish 7-6. By contrast, we lost to Ole Miss 35-20 and LSU 23-17 at home.

In 2015, Arkansas started 2-4 before wining 6 of their last 7 games (with only loss to Mississippi State) to finish 8-5. That Arkansas team lost non-conference home games to Toledo and Texas Tech, but they finished 5-3 in SEC games for 3rd place in the SEC West behind Alabama and Ole Miss. That was Bret Bielema's best team, and they defeated Tennessee 24-20, Ole Miss 53-50 in overtime, and LSU 31-14 on the road. For the second year in a row, we beat Arkansas in overtime, but lose to Ole Miss and LSU. Yet, Arkansas managed to beat both Ole Miss and LSU two years in a row.

So, I wasn't surprised that we had to rally from a 28-14 deficit to beat Arkansas 35-28 in overtime 2014 and 21-13 deficit to beat Arkansas 28-21 in overtime in 2015. In 2016, Arkansas went 7-6 (3-5 in SEC games) before dramatically declining to 4-8 (1-7 in SEC games) in 2017. That team almost lost to 3-9 Coastal Carolina, who was in their first year in the Sun Belt Conference, before rallying for a 39-38 win at home on 11/4/17.

I could not understand why we squeaked by Arkansas 50-43 in overtime in 2017, 24-17 in 2018, and 31-27 in 2019. Over the past three years, Arkansas has gone 8-28 (1-23 in SEC games) and lost 19 straight SEC games since a 38-37 win at Ole Miss on 10/28/17. I want to see at least a 10-point win over Arkansas at Kyle Field on Halloween.

The '14 and '15 Arkansas teams are two of the most underachieving Razorback teams I can remember. Quite a bit of NFL talent on those teams and should have won more games than they did, lost a ton of close ones. 2014 team nearly knocked off Alabama but missed an extra point and lost 14-13.

Was reading your post and was like wow. Literally same scenario for me. Took my 5 yr old to the Colorado game as his first game. He is also a JR at ATM. And keeping him occupied was challenging. I remember thinking it may be difficult getting through the OT! I was buying him any and everything he wanted! Good times. He has picture of him and I framed with the 2 stubs from that game.
