A big F-U to Notre Dame... just lost a game.. likely will lose em all if all Power 5 conferences go this way

conference games only for all fall sports.

so the A&M athletic department saves money by not sending the soccer team to Ohio State.

Exactly. No way the ACC was going to tell ND to f-- itself. ND makes them too much money.

Tough games vs ND. At Oregon and Washington. This is a financial play. Nd is played in Wisconsin. 100% financial. Virus doesn't care if it's non conference or conference games.

What makes playing only conference games any safer than playing a full schedule? You're still going to have to travel, you're still going to have the same risks..

It's a statement to buy time before they cancel the whole season.

another option is to play home&homes with teams that are within busing distance in order to fill out the schedule.

A&M plays in Baton Rouge
and
LSU plays in College Station in 2020

well, once this all shakes out, it provides a measure of certainty that a team won't lose a game they were expecting to play because a team or conference that doesn't give a crap about your season decides at the last minute to stay home for "safety". i see this being less likely to happen intra-conference.

This will kill the athletic departments of the small schools that rely on that one Power 5 game payout each year to fund their programs. While we often complain about those "gimme" games, I gained new respect for them listening to Jimbo's passion for keeping them so those smaller schools can continue to offer athletics to their students.

It would be fun to lose to LSU twice in one season?

Every single coach is in favor of these because its three free wins. Why would they oppose a better looking record, no matter how hollow? And the coaches taking the beating love it because it increases their salaries.

Excellent warm up for conference play too. Any sec east team inserted in the beginning of the 2020 schedule is already harder than our first 6 games considering vandy is on the schedule late.

While obviously getting uk/mizzou is best, inserting uf/uga/tenn could make the dream season less dreamy real quick and the other two would still require us to show up compared to our current start of the schedule.

The worst thing that could happen is have uf/uga inserted into week 1/2 where the kinks of this bizarre year haven't been worked out. Also a road game would make it doubly crazy.

The season is already a throwaway. There's no legitimate season without the Big 10. All ideas of how to measure success are out the window along with my interest. I'm eager for the 2021-22 season to be here already.

yes, in the NFL teams play twice during the season. Why not in college under special circumstances

There are enough teams in conference so that we don't have to play anybody twice. I'd love to have a rematch with Uga at Kyle. Florida? UT? Throw in Vandy as a cupcake.

An unintended consequence of this may result in no more divisional play going forward. As y'all know, there has been a move afoot to remove divisions and go with 3 permanent opponents and then rotate the other 10 schools every other year. This could be modified to be 5 permanent opponents and rotating the other 8 schools every other year.
