instead of cutting the sport, they should just fire the baseball & softball coaches and promote a GA for min wage.

Texas A&M has 18 NCAA Mens and Women's Sports programs

These would be the first 6 (33%) to be furloughed/cut for 2020/2021

1) M&W Cross Country
2) M&W Golf
3) M&W Tennis

Given you have to keep the scholarships balanced, I would expect you start with women's sports that offset football. If you are going to have baseball, you keep softball, same for basketball and track.

Women's soccer could take a big hit in this country if football goes down.

After cutting 11 irrelevant sports, stanny still has 25...7 more than A&M.

I think Golf would be safe.

why? because of the minor sports it has the best potential to produce wealthy alums / former players (after their college days are over) via the PGA tour

Agree. There will be some BMA step up and fly J.T. and the team wherever they need to go.

09 and 10 double championships were prior to the women's basketball national championship in 2011. The double in 11 was afterwards as well as the shared men's (with Florida) in 13 and the women's in 14. The 2009 men's golf title was about the same time as the 09 double title.

Men's indoor track and field in 2017 was the most recent.

Women's mud wrestling would be a good sport to have.

Due to the recent CV-19 spike and potential for a Fall surge, in Texas and In other Southern states, team sports necessitating physical contact will likely be cancelled. Both in high school and college!

Things ain't getting better, but worse!

I really have to conclude that proper English usage is slipping, probably do to so much time being spent on things like extracurricular sports.

For comparison, Stanford has 36 Men's and Women's sports programs.

It will not be any of the equestrian sports or golf. We have too much invested in those sports even though they don't produce revenue.

The amount we have invested in a sport will not have near as much weight when we considering which programs to cut as how much will it cost each program to operate this year. The number of programs cut will be close to zero because we have so much invested in the overhead of our entire sports programs whether they participate or not.

We have coaches & staff (salaries), players (scholarships), cost of operations of facilities (whether used or not to some extent). Add up the total amount of money we would spend this year if we did not play a single sport. Then try to add some very small competitions such as golf and tennis.

There will certainly be limited matches in October and definitely no matches/games in November or LATER.

COVID-19 contests will be extremely costly and disruptive. COVID-19 Events may be played if they are determine to be revenue neutral.

Think about the recent capital outlay we've had for facility improvements. Those sports are going nowhere. T&F and swimming are safe. Equestrian is not an NCAA-recognized sport, I don't think, so it may not be under consideration. Besides...the whole facility thing applies.

Cross country would be a candidate, but that's probably where the list ends.

Oh yea. Huge. The TV contracts and our share of NCAA tournament dollars (even if we don't make it) are huge. Women's basketball almost makes money for the same reason. Any money the athletic department makes off of ticket sales and concessions is just bonus.
