  • Played as true freshman
  • Played all four years of their eligibility
  • Lived up to their 4 or 5 star billing
  • Went on to the NFL and played well

former DE Brandon Mitchell (1993-96)

I think he was a 4-star

but you know there are not too many that meet that criteria.

especially playing as a true freshman and playing all 4 years

Keith Mitchell would meet that criteria.

did they have the 4-star/5-star rating system back in the early 90's?

I guess it depends on which ranking but I thought Von was a 3 star - 247 composite

I believe Coryatt was a transfer - only played 2 years at A&M. He may have played as a true freshman, but it wasn't for A&M.

Unfortunately his NFL career was cut short due to injury.

Played as a fish (even started some games) and all 4 years of eligibility at A&M (2014-2017)
Just got a super bowl ring with Kansas City Chiefs

What prize do I get for nailing the OP's question?

Randy Bullock does come relatively close to qualifying for this, obviously recruiting ranking gonna be tough for a specialist

It didn't say played like a four or five star all four years.
It says played fish year and played like one would expect a 4 or 5 star to play.

I don't think the 247 composite existed back then.
Edit: and if they have something online, it would be revisionist history and not what they compiled at the time.

You could be right. I just remember that he won newcomer of the year our last year in the SWC, but it may have been a redshirt freshman year.

I don't think they give kickers or punters 4 stars, but if they did Shane Lechler should have been at least a 4 and would otherwise meet all the criteria!

Bates was the transfer from UCLA, also a great one, Q was on the roster beginning in '88, then AA his last season and overall # 2 pick in the draft. One of the best defensive plays I've seen in person was his safety of the FSU QB in the Cotton Bowl. His closing speed as a LB was incredible.
