He never said they are as good as any team on our schedule. He said we can play with them, which is for the most part accurate (maybe a stretch when talking about Bama).

I seriously doubt that is what is happening (maybe up until right before Game 2). This team is more than likely accurately self-evaluating at this point in the season. A lot of what Jimbo is saying is basically control what you can control and a little coach speak. He wants the mental part of the game cleaned up because we can't get any faster. I'm sure they "read the papers" and know they aren't as good as they want to be.

Yep. Behind a porous OLine and he had as effective a day as anyone will against Bama this year. Mond isn't an elite QB, but he's plenty talented. I think this site gets caught up in where we think we should be and doesn't always objectively view the talent we are going up against this year... we simply aren't on that level yet, we are close, but it's going to be another recruiting class or two.

I'd rather him think he's the best and play with a chip on his shoulder then be unsure of himself and his abilities.

We can "play" with anyone. We could PLAY with the New England Patriots.

Can we WIN and BEAT the teams we "play" against.

My point was that it is better not to say "I'm the best, I'm the best" but to just go out and show it on the field. Clearly he's not the best (with his over-throws, sacks and interceptions), and journalists pointing this out more & more is becoming embarrassing for both him and A&M.
