For possibly the first time ever, all 9 US service and senior military academies that sponsor football have won on the same day: Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, VMI, Citadel, & Norwich

The odds of this happening must be astronomical.

It's rarer than that right? Because several weeks Army plays Navy plays Air Force each year were the ability for all 8 to win is Zero?

Nope. As others point out, some weeks they play each other or have byes. Plus, citadel always sucks.

If a school's all-time winning percentage is a good substitute for the "chance" of winning any particular game, and if I remember my statistics correctly, where you multiply the chance of any one event occurring by the chance of each other event occurring, you get the chance of all the events occurring, then there is a 0.002151 % chance of all these teams winning on the same weekend.

Obviously, this does not take into account the days that any team has a bye, any team plays another team on the list, or does the weeks where any of these teams play on a day other than Saturday.

This is interesting and something i never had considered.

Curious as to why the US Merchant Marine Academy in NY doesn't count?

I take it none of the "Maritime" colleges count.

I'm pretty sure they just pray for lots of rain. They're a niche team thats actually pretty good when they're playing in a big puddle, but not much else.

It is indeed astronomical if all 9 teams won on the same weekend AND the probability of all 9 teams winning was exactly 1 in 256.

(If it was 8 teams, I could see getting to 1 in 256 by assuming a round 50% probability of each team winning.)
