Remember that almost 3 year span in the big 12 where tech never beat us in anything? They just happen to be on a hot streak. It won't last forever

Sorry the Big 12 was not a tough conference this year. With Texas Techs schedule we would have gone just as far. We would have hosted and had a much easier road to Omaha. We beat Arkansas as well.

Kudos to Tech for finding ways to succeed. I don't think their success is solely explainable by the notion that the Big 12 is in collapse. It's kind of like the opposite is true: if the conference is to thrive, teams other than Austin and Norman need to emerge. Arguably Tech has come up with a sustainable approach that at least somewhat translates across sports. And in Lubbock of all places.
With that said: ALL of the Big 12 teams benefited by equal sharing of Tier 1 over-the-air revenue and Tier 2 cable/satellite revenue that has led to their current payouts. They're sharing those proceeds with fewer teams and have a built-in kicker that ESPN and Fox acted specifically to preserve the conference when offering the same payout for 10 teams as for 12 even with the losses of Nebraska, us, Colorado, and Missouri and with replacement teams like TCU that didn't exactly bring in new viewers in footprint.
The result has been a wave of investment that allowed schools like KSU, ISU, Baylor, and Tech to actually improve their facilities and programs in what likely is the last round of major increases in media revenue sharing in the foreseeable future.
But most of that wouldn't have happened if the Big 12 had not tried to renege on the promise to pay Texas A&M $20 million we had been pledged to stay in 2010...
