Jimbo has no interest in resuming the series. Thank goodness. He's smarter than Sharp in knowing it's a net gain (especially in recruiting) for the horns and a loss for A&M. Texas state politicians have a peculiar penchant for injecting their opinions into college athletic conference alignments and (now) non-conference football games. It is, IMO, a mark of desperation that Tessus is using its political capital to try to get the A&M game back on their calendar. It is also dangerous for Aggies, b/c it is Tessus' interest that is primarily being served, not A&Ms. A&M needs full autonomy in deciding on OOC football matchups.

This is the State University and the State Land Grant School. Politicians can't help themselves wanting to get involved. It's a good photo op and a way to get a few minutes on the local news. I wish Abbott would stay away from this. This is Texas, not Alabama. Most people in the state don't care about the Horns or the Aggies. Like or not, pro sports are a much bigger deal in Texas, just like in New York, California, Illinois, and Florida.

I'm bet when President Young talks to the Governor, (if Sharp even allows that to happen) very little of the conversation is about sports. Abbott probably has more heartburn about the 10% rule than football.

On another note, I still haven't forgiven Abbott for his video at the UCLA game after Harvey using Colt McCoy asking fans in the Rose Bowl to support Texans affected by the storm. Why not Lyle Lovett and Troy Aikman? Abbott, like most sips, thinks everything is about UT.

Abbott has realized one thing...the series is probably never coming back permanently.
