1st Team- Jace Sternberger
2nd Team- Trayveon Williams

The committees for the John Mackey and Doak Walker awards should be embarrassed. Apparently they haven't been watching the football everyone else has.

Agree except for the Ray Guy award. That one is legit.

The College Football Payoff semifinalists combined to place 10 players on The Associated Press All-America first team, including a high of four from No. 1 Alabama.
I didn't know there was an award for that. interesting.

It is a bunch of writers that think themselves smart enough to vote for an award. Do you expect supreme intelligence from egos that big?

If anyone had said we were going to have three AP All-Americans this year, this place would have exploded in sarcasm and BAS bullcrap.

Fisher is building something amazing.
According to the Biden White House, what Joe Biden says does not represent the official position of the Biden administration.

Lechler didn't win did he? If not, Ray Guy award remains on the highly suspect watch list.

Obviously the Mackey Award was absurd to not have Sternberger as at least a finalist. I'm not sure why you'd throw the Doak Walker Award in the same category. The 3 finalists were deserving. Trayveon may have been as well, but for whatever reason, they only had 3 finalists (not sure if that's standard).

The three Doak Walker finalists compared w/ Trayveon:

Jonathan Taylor
Carries: 288
Yards: 1989
YPC: 7.1
Total TD: 15
Scrimmage: 2049

Darrell Henderson
Carries: 214
Yards: 1909
YPC: 8.9
Total TD: 25
Scrimmage: 2204

Travis Etienne
Carries: 176
Yards: 1464
YPC: 8.3
Total TD: 22
Scrimmage: 1529

Trayveon Williams
Carries: 252
Yards: 1524
YPC: 6.0
Total TD: 16
Scrimmage: 1802

Of course, you can make the argument that Trayveon faced a tougher schedule, but aside from that, I don't see how you make a case for him over any of the three finalists.

Ray Guy Award didn't start until 2000.

Trayveon actually runs some of the same plays Henderson runs. The Memphis connection. Only Williams did it against the toughest defensive schedule by far of the 4 listed. So, you can make a case but, they are all great.

Fair. I guess my greater point is that I don't think it's absurd to have the finalists they did. And I'm certainly not taking anything away from the season Trayveon had. To lead the SEC in rushing speaks volumes.

Now, the Mackey Award is a whole different discussion. That was inexcusable.

Throw in that one of them would be our TE and you'd be off to the looney bin

Wisconsin RB's that run for 1,900 yards are a dime a dozen. That's like Tech QB's that throw for 4,000 yards each season.

There is bias against the SEC...in the form of refusing to acknowledge the strength of schedule and all the NFL quality players

4 RB's in Wisconsin history have rushed for 1,900 yards or more in a season: Melvin Gordon, Ron Dayne (twice), Jonathan Taylor (twice), Montee Ball. I'd hardly call that "a dime a dozen".

And these awards aren't for the best NFL quality players. It's for the player who has the best season. It's hard to argue that Trayveon, as great as his season was, had a better season than Taylor. Perhaps it's that the voters believe that Taylor, Henderson and Etienne just had better seasons, which one can make a sound argument for.

You have to be joking about a bias against the SEC just because a few of the decisions didn't go A&M's way....

20 player awards and 10 of them given to SEC players (2 given to Big 12 players and both were to Kyler)

25 players selected to AP First Team All American and 11 of them were from the SEC (2 Big 12 selections, Kyler and an OU receiver)

Unfortunately, we will still have individuals who look at those stats and say the people who make the decisions are bias against SEC.

I don't see how that is possible, the SEC is always talked about as the best conference with the best recruiting and the most draft picks every year...what do people expect, for the SEC to just get every single accolade possible?
