I'll back you OP. I wouldn't generally think that a RB and Punter would room together. Could see him with a WR or QB, another offensive skill position kind of guy. And seems like a kicker would room with another kicker, but I could see them rooming with a lineman.

It's odd because of the position group. Punters/kickers in general aren't considered football players outside of that group.
You'd expect the stud RB to be rooming with other RBs or a skill position. Even the OL in that group is odd, normally see them with other OL or DL. Maybe they do it because they are around those players all the time and want a break from them.
