This is why people need to stop voting yes for for high dollar district bonds.

Just imagine how 1/6 would've played out if DC hadn't had such strict gun laws.

Two people starred his post as of the time of this signature. Those 3 people are allowed to vote in the US.

For real. This **** is crazy. I can't believe that property taxes are skyrocketing for this crap.

Fancy facilities are for recruiting....Therefore it's just plain stupid to spend a lot of money on fancy high school locker rooms when it's not like your trying to attract the top talent. Give them the necessities and make those necessities nice but nothing else is needed.

Realistically aside from the carpet with the logo, a couple of cheap love seats, a ping pong table and barber chair; is this much different from the next locker room down the road? Granted, I think the carpet is non-utilitarian and the other items are just stupid.

Don't assume that the "upgrades" were paid with tax dollars. May have been funded by the booster club.

And the logo looks to be a mat on top with a rubber backing...probably similar existed before.

Nothing is worse than high school football booster club parent egos.
This is unnecessary on every dimension. I have to remind myself that we live in an "every kid gets a trophy" society nowadays.

That's typically what those around it say to try to justify it without actually saying where the money came from....

Let's be honest, it's a guy's high school locker room. In 2 weeks the couch will smell no different than the rest of it. Everything will smell like @ss

Those robin hood schools' football games drive the entire economy of their towns.

So what about the classrooms, offices, gyms, charter style buses, auditoriums, baseball fields, parking lots, lights.....

Yep, those towns have nothing else driving their economy.
It is necessary for those schools.

For a school like Southlake, Katy, or Memorial, it's completely unnecessary.

That isn't really all that impressive. It's a big open room with some couches, a ping pong table, and a barber chair. It probably cost them about 7-8 grand more for the added features above the cost of what looks to be a pretty basic locker room.

It's also likely that taxpayer money didn't go towards it likely some fundraising from the booster club.

Socialism at its grandest in the State of Texas: the Robin Hood Plan.

My wife and I chose where to live in Texas when we moved back from Georgia. We could have moved almost anywhere in the the state in the 1990's - we chose Plano for the schools for our children (now graduates of A&M).

"Robin Hood" robbed our school district of millions of tax dollars.

Now we drive through plenty of Texas towns in our travels across the state, shaking our head at the facilities that were built by the towns that benefited from those tax dollars.

Such is life in the State of Friday Night Lights.

(and don't get me wrong, I love Texas high school football. I still go to a number of regular season plus playoff games each year, and attend 2-4 of the Texas High School playoff finals almost every year).

So, 5-6 football games a year drive a towns economy?

So what justifies building new classrooms, offices, gyms, buying charter style buses, auditoriums, baseball fields, parking lots, lights? I thought football drove the economy?

Again, those districts create positive externalities for their communities as the sole driver of the local economy.

Not at all surprising to me that parents in districts with schools like Plano Sr, Highland Park, and Memorial scoff at less fortunate districts' academic facilities as they drive by in their Lexus and Cadillacs...

It's actually backwards. Schools will come up with any way to spend money so that they don't send it back to the state. Those facilities are built by districts trying to keep as much money in their district as possible.

That's not a very expensive lockerroom. It's just a big room with lockers. It was obviously built to be a meeting room also instead of having to build a separate room.

To be honest it doesn't look too extravagant, it's much nicer than anything I ever had, but outside of a few couches a ping pong table in the barber chair in the bathroom it looks like a typical locker room.

Edit: somebody really needs to learn what a throw distance is, or at least Zoom the projector to fill the screen.

Or my 12 year old Honda Pilot !

I didn't say there were not benefits from Robin Hood, just the fact that it was a socialistic program - thus the name. BTW, I ain't rich. There are plenty of affordable homes and apartments in every community. We chose to move there for the schools as I initially said. No different than any other Texan can choose to do at any point.

(I promise not to say any more unless it is on the Political Board !)

It's crazy how much money goes into the school systems of this great state (regardless of source) only to have us rank 43 nationally in education.

It either goes to useless crap like this or to line the pockets of the administrators, rather than the teachers and classrooms like it should.

That's not a very expensive lockerroom. You obviously don't know what your looking at.
I prefer your standard line: "Obviously not a coach."

It takes the finely trained eye that comes with coaching 2A football for 67 years to know when education funds are being wasted.

It really doesn't look that nice. Let's be honest.

And for the people complaining about it coming out of taxes or bonds, I ask you what about A&M's extravagances? Those also come out of student fees, high ticket prices, $24 chicken wraps, excessive parking and merchandise prices, etc.

Who cares how you pay for it...you are still paying for it.

I'm confused. Is that a barber chair or a place to fix the man buns? Seeing a lot less fades now days and going to a lot more weaves and dreads. Maybe that is why no clippers can be seen in the photo. Next thing you know 20 years down the road we will need to install large makeup mirrors to put in eye shadow.
