I remember the construction workers throwing a football and some even waved a towel.
Even though the crowd was smaller, might be the best game in the stands I've ever attended.

This was THE game that made me a die hard football fan. My high school won state while I was there and I grew up in Dallas when the Cowboys were winning Superbowls (plural), and I went to games in '97, including the Big XII Championship, but it wasn't until this game that I started to eat, sleep, and breathe Aggie football.

Grandfather attended A&M and i was his only grandson to do so
He was diagnosed with cancer earlier that summer
I spent the first several weekends of my freshman year visiting him and watching games on tv with him.
He wouldn't let me see him that weekend and told me to go to the game instead.
He beat cancer and I'm glad he "made" me go that game.
My brain just isn't working right now....

What a great game! Toombs was on a mission. I think it was the first Maroon Out game (I still have a big maroon banner promoting it).

People forget just how dominant the Nebraska program was back then. Back to back Natties in 1994 and 1995 and a #2 ranking in 1997.
My now wife had dragged me out to the Red River shootout that day and (that being the era before ubiquitous telecommunications) I had just assumed we would be once again getting pummeled. I remember the shock of getting home in the 4th quarter and watching that last interception.

Add to the fact that we were 10 months removed from the 54-15 shellacking Nebraska put on us in San Antonio in the big 12 title game...made this game much sweeter.

I went to that game with my Dad. Even with the diminished crowd due to Zone construction, I remember that game being pretty loud, and it was one of the very few games at Kyle Field that season that we played under full sun and with no precipitation. Beautiful day for a ball game!

Still one of the best and loudest games I've been to at Kyle. I even managed to get 3 seconds of fame during that game when I was on the jumbotron. Most of my buddies were in the Corps, so i usually sat with them - ended the game on the field sawing it with the team. It was awesome.
