Now that US Open Tennis is exclusively on ESPN and CBS has the first pick at the 2:30 time slot, we can assume with 100% certainty that we'll be playing on September 8th in miserable 115 degrees hot as balls conditions. Pack your gallon of water.

SEC Games on Sept 8th

Clemson @ A&M
Alabama St @ Aubutn
Kentucky @ Florida
SE Louisiana @ LSU
Southern Illinois @ Ole Miss
Miss St @ Kansas St
Wyoming @ Mizzou
Georgia @ South Carolina
East Tenn St @ Tennessee
Nevada @ Vandy
Arkansas St @ Bama
Arkansas @ Colorado St

If I'm CBS, I'm strongly considering GA-SC since the conference and division game has more on the line. Argument for Clemson is if they know they will have more opportunities to get GA and SC on TV since they are in the conference.

My almanac says cloudy with 30% chance of light showers and a high of 89 degrees......or we could bake our brains .

Maybe Administration should say "no" to a 2:30pm game if told that's the time slot. Administration should use the safety card and state it puts athletes and audience in an unsafe heat environment. Haven't understood afternoon games in September for a long time. Old excuse was old Ags could travel to and from game at reasonable hours. Late starts put old Ags on the highway for late night travel. I'm an old Ag now and I'd rather travel late night if I have to travel. Kyle is a much better venue under the lights....always has been. Just my opinion.

Agreed. UGA @ USCe is an intriguing inter-divisional match up, but this is CBS's only chance to broadcast Clemson this year since their game against USCe is @Clemson. Jimbo vs. Dabo also has more story lines given their past than the former Saban DC matchup between Muschamp and Kirby.

Farmer....I hear you but until we actually win something we are at the mercy of ratings estimates by CBS and ESPN. CBS may actually go with the more compelling national and SEC game Georgia/USC and we move on down to either the ESPN slot at 6.

A LOT of SEC feathers will be ruffled if CBS decides to feature an ACC team in this time slot. They generally like to keep it an all-SEC affair.

I still think it's 7 or 7:45 pm eastern on ESPN.

Clemson/Chickens will never be on CBS as it's same day as the Iron Bowl and when they are good, FSU-Florida.

CBS gets third choice that day. ESPN gets the first and second choices.

Our game will either be 6 pm or 8 pm.

Matt Sarzyniak just had an article and prediction about this.

Matt Sarz is usually dead on. He's saying ESPN has already selected UGA/USC and Clemson/A&M. All there is to decide is what time slot.

Dabo v Jimbo will be an evening game, and will be hyped up as such. There's more of a narrative and a story for sports writers to go on since Jimbo just left the ACC.

Not sure if serious......

As part of an extension to CBS's contract with the SEC through the 202324 season, CBS no longer has exclusivity during its afternoon window, but still has the first choice of games

Where are you getting that CBS has 3rd choice that day?

Go read my link from Matt Sarzyniak... ESPN has already selected our game and Dogs-Cocks. Time TBD.

CBS will sub license UK-UF.

Matt has uncanny accuracy and knows far more about this than you and I

Don't deny that a sports media writer knows more than we do, am just interested to know when there was a change to the SEC TV contract and ESPN can select the top 2 SEC games in a week (technically top 3 and then sublicense a game to CBS).

I would be thrilled as hell if that Clemson game is at night!!!!

Assuredly my ass I guess

CBS Sports chose not to alter their contract when we joined. Remember Slive going to ask for more money and getting rebuffed? I do.

CBS gets top choice, after a certain date, or a certain number of times per year. CBS wrote the contract assuming they'd always have US Open Tennis. Since Clem v A&M is during traditional US Open time, CBS doesn't get first choice.

I like Matt Sarz but his sked is already off as Penn State at Pitt is the ABC 8pm game. He had them at noon.

We'll see how the rest of it shakes out. I still think at night on ESPN.

Hopefully Gameday will be there.

They did alter the deal after we joined. CBS gave up exclusivity in the 2:30CST window, but still gets their first choice of game. The reason why some early season games went to ABC/ESPN in our first few years was that CBS was carrying US Open Tennis, which is no longer the case. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/sec-cbs-rework-long-term-contract/

Quote:

The terms of the deal are expected to remain intact ($55 million per year until 2023-24), with CBS lifting the exclusive 3:30 p.m. broadcast window so the SEC can air football games on its ESPN-operated channel on Saturdays.
CBS owned exclusive rights to the prime broadcast spot for its "SEC on CBS" game of the week. CBS still picks the top SEC game each week and owns rights to the league championship game in Atlanta.

There may be a loop hole that I'm not aware of that allows ESPN to buy the rights to our game or UGA-USCe that weekend, but I'm not sure why CBS would do that to broadcast UF-UK. Fingers crossed so Kyle can be rocking at night.

Hell yes!

Night Game tab kyle!

Tickets in Hand.

Course if Jimbo pulls a Sleepy Sherman and loses to Northwestern St in his first game we may be less excited.

Oh man, that would be insane, best not to think about it.
