Thanks to everyone who submitted their Career Center guess and advice for our new former students. There was a lot of great advice that we know is appreciated by all. Because of all of the responses, we tripled the number of winners, so congratulations to the following posters who will be getting an Association goodie bag.

Winners, we'll be in touch.

If you didn't win this time around, don't worry. Be on the look out for more trivia giveaways throughout the year. Thanks and gig 'em.

Over 10,500 Aggies graduated this spring from Texas A&M and we were proud to welcome them into The Association of Former Students.

Post answers to both of the two questions below and we'll select two winners on Saturday, May 19. Winners will receive an Association goodie bag.

  • In 2017, how many companies recruited through the Texas A&M Career Center? Find the answer HERE
  • What career advice would you give a new former student?

DID YOU KNOW that The Association provides over $60,000 annually to the Career Center, which allows them to offer former students complimentary services that include career consultations, guidance for effective networking, online career assessments, and advice on resume writing, job interviewing, and salary negotiation

Remember, its a marathon not a sprint. You will be the most successful when you find something for which you are truly passionate. You may know what that is now, or it may take you time to find it. But never give up the search.

It's not what you know, or even who you know.

It's what you know about who you know.

Quit your job immediately. Every one of the wealthiest folks I know own their own business.

Buy lots of real estate. Own it for a long time. Profit.

Be happy. It's a state of mind.

See what the masses do then go the opposite way.

Don't get girls pregnant.

Stay single and be lonely. Get married and be bored.

Don't get obese. Just eat less. Having a kid is no excuse for obesity.

Kids are expensive. Getting married and having kids don't really provide whole lot of benefits to men but it benefits kids.

It's not always best to do it the right way. It's more important to do the right thing.

You don't decide your future. You decide your habits. And your habits decide your future. - Derek Daly.

Don't follow your passion that will earn you nothing. Go out and be as productive as you can but have passion and be obsessed with what you're doing.

Stay away from negativity.

Don't trust anyone. But be trustworthy.

Choose your mentor carefully and be his/her life long friend.

Go to bed early and get up early. No reason to stay up til midnight with unproductive activities unless you're out partying.

If you're on time, you're late.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

1. Dont do drugs/quit smoking grass. the increased initiative and focus will make you far happier in the long run
2. invest early and alot into your retirement. like others mentioned, just get used to living on less than you make. I cannot possibly stress enough how much you will regret waiting until your mid 30's to think about this. Single biggest regret of my entire life to this point
3. Never, and I mean never sacrifice a good career or job opportunity for any type of hobby, side project, fun, travel, ect. You never know if those opportunities will ever present themselves again
4. wait a while to get married and have kids

2. Always wear your Aggie ring its at the very minimum a conversation starter even if its from a sip ribbing you about your intelligent choice. A firm handshake is a good thing to develop if you don't have one. There is always a better opportunity but never treat your current opportunity as a stepping stone; be "all in" for what you are currently doing until the next door opens.
